Motley Crue have done it can Bon Jovi??

Yeah, let's all pay attention to how many units a certain album sells! Just Bon Jovi has become so fascinated with selling x million copies of whatever album they're releasing doesn't mean that what they release is actually any good. There's a shitload of albums from other artsts that don't sell half of what Bon Jovi sells and yet their albums are miles better.

Agreed. But many don't sell the amount of albums as Jovi because they are about as mainstream as you can get these days.

Y'know, Motley Crue are just a fun band. Bon Jovi are a more serious band.

Depends on my mood which I prefer more, fun band or serious band but y'know that's what it boils down to. So Bon Jovi shouldn't do a Crue and Crue shouldn't do a Jovi.

N'sync and Backdoor Boys sold a lot of records too. Are they better than Bon Jovi?

Sales don't equal quality. I am always fascinated why when critics slag Bon Jovi, then fans immediately point out sales numbers. But when some random pop (or rap) act sells more than Bon Jovi, then the same group of fans get their panties in a wad again and say, but, but, but they are not as great as Bon Jovi! Sales mean nothing!

Albums after TD are not all bad, but starting from TD, they never have a full album of killer songs, there's always killer songs, mediocre songs and shit songs. That can't be said for the holy trinity of SWW/NJ/KTF. In fact, if I rate each song from those albums with 1 to 5 rating (1 = ultra turd, 2 = mediocre and weak, 3 = ok, 4 = good, 5 = holyshitawesome), here's what I got:

With that rating, Crush and HAND got above 3 average, the rest are 2 point something!

Bon Jovi were of fun band too back in the eighties, but they just had the better songs and sold more than Crue.

Better is subjective. I'm a bigger BJ fan than the Crue, so I share the same opinion, but I'm sure people in Crue boards think the other way, and I got no problem with that.

But there's no doubt they sold more, because they had more of a crossover appeal due to the songs being poppier.

I think Bon Jovi is better when they write 'fun' songs compared to the more 'introspective' songs. The latter tend to gag me.

Hey God is a wayyyyy better song than all of the songs on LH. Come on, WGIGO is nothing compared to Hey God. These days should get a 3.something average.

Motley have been around since the early eighties as well – if not longer than Jovi’s 25 years

Everyone who says I’m comparing Jovi and Crue – you are totally missing the point.
I’m not comparing the 2 – I’m saying that Crue have gone back to their roots and made (imo) a great album – makes up for the last 14 years of crap - should Jovi do the same after the last 3 albums have been average.
I think Jovi need to make a great Rock album. They can do it – do they want to though??
