That's correct, it was John Donne who is credited for this usually (it's been discussed here before, it was a question on some Am. quiz show, and the correct answer was not JBJ, although he was one of the alternatives).

And Goose - just to point out, it's not PHILOSOPHY, it's POETRY!!! (I love John Donne)

Jon's use of the line is an allusion. I agree, too, that it's laughable to think it's Jon's work.

well yes, but nowadays it is often twisted into philosophy and poetry is for girlies so I wasnt going to say that

But I think that he should consult Dr. Freud - I think he would have some advice as to why the phrase "you suck" comes up so often in "his" posts. It is starting to get worrying...
