Is this a joke? I think they are alright, but they haven't developed their on-stage performance at all over the years and can't seem to command an audience. They still come off as amateurish. Granted, they sound fine. I just expected them to get better rather than stay the same over the years. It would make sense if Muse won as they actually are good live.

Yeah, even though I don't like Muse, I was very surprised that arguably the most popular rock band in the world (or at least here in Europe definitely) didn't receive a single award yesterday. I was surprised they lost to LP as best live act and I was even more surprised when they lost to 30STM as best rock act.

Speaking of Jovi, I was very pleased with their involvement. I was expecting they'll get the global icon award and then just perform one song and all of that would happen early in the show. Instead, they received their award early in the show and then closed the show in a strong fassion. So overall, they've appeared twice in the evening and not only closed the show, but also played the longest set (6:30 mins and the only act to perform 3 songs). As far as their medley goes, I was upset at first when they started doing WDYG, because I thought they're only allowed to do one song, but thankfully I was very wrong. And I get their idea, it was to play a new song and the other two hits that would represent different periods of their career, so the set was decent, however I would've rather opted for WDYG/IML/Prayer set. So big thumbs up for all their EMA stuff and sadly this will most likely be their last significant involvement in such a big award show.

P.S. It was awesome watching the Madrid crowd (which I suppose mostly came to see Katy Perry, Rihanna and Miley Cyrus) going absolutely apeshit during IML

Aloha !

It's a shame they opened with pretty much one of the dullest songs of their career, and that Jon can't seem to find his voice in the song as he sounds completely off and strained, even on the verses. Once they ended Bad Name they had the crowd eating out of the palm of their hands though. A much better move would have been to ditch the new stuff, just play 3 or 4 old songs and make a proper medley of them, instead of just ending and then kicking into the next song. When done properly the crowd will be overwhelmed by all that's been thrown at them.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I thought it was an excellent performance. Maybe not the smartest chioce to play WDYG, but I can understand where they were coming from. If you're going to promote a GH record, you might as well play the album's lead single. Bad Name and IML worked brilliantly. The fans' reaction seemed overwhelming, the crowd went bananas especially during IML.

I can't think of many bands their age to get such an outstanding crowd response at an MTV Awards show, where the majority of all nominees is half their age or even younger. This adds to the fact that they were the only band who got to play 3 songs and played longer than any other act and got to close the show.

I think their appearance at the EMAs will definitely have a positive effect on GH sales, they got tons of media coverage and rocked the house. I can't help it, I have been watching the EMAs for more than a decade and somehow felt...proud to see my favourite band putting on such a great performance last night.

I personally think the highlight of the entire night was Eva Longoria She's obviously a real Jovi girl as well - fair play to her.

I was disappointed they didn't win but was ok with Linkin Park. I am a fan and enjoyed them when I first saw them years ago. I like them because they take chances like with their last record and don't compromise.I enjoyed the medley even with the first song. Seeing the crowd like that made me say hey they respect who they are and what they have done so far.

But The More Things Change isn't the single. I would've rather heard that than WDYG, but WDYG is the single. Like was said above, it would've been better to make an actual medley of some Greatest Hits. What they should've done (based on what they would probably do in the situation) is Prayer, Bad Name, Who Says, IML. Preferably, I think the message would've gone across if they just did Prayer.
