The fact that extra credit even exists says enough ................
A measly, enjoyable thing... You guys are shunning it out and are probably jealous!

yes, as a matter of fact, I won't deny that I am harboring resentment ---- I studied my butt off to get a certain grade, only for some 'not so studious' person to come along and hand in some bogus extra credit homework and getting the same grade as I did.

In my english class I had to write an essay, it was about anything I wanted the professor just wanted to see how we developed the subject matter.

You do that in an English class? At 18?!?!

I'm in shock
me too

So had it been a Maths extra credit you would have been saying "if Bon Jovi has four official members and Hugh... what does that equal?"

Once i was required to bring in a song that i think is suitable for baz luhrman's appropriation of romeo and juliet. i so wanted to bring in a bon jovi song but i couldn't find a suitable one because we had to explain want scene it should be played in and why.... i would have chosen bed of roses too if i didn't have to find a specific scene to use it in....

The ideal song for that would simply be Romeo and Julliet by Dire Straits. The studio version is a bit cheesy, but most of the live versions are great.

is there any way you could actually fail that?

i mean not wanting to piss on anyones bonfire but explaining how a love song is a love song ain't exactly taxing. what about the shakespeare?

and how does extra credit work? surely if it actually adds somethign onto your grade it should require some semblence of effort?

if you don't make the grade by doing well on the regular exams, some teachers might give you the opportunity to 'do something' to earn extra points - hence getting a better grade than otherwise.

Extra credit has nothing to do with the regular curriculum - hence, I am sure they still cover Shakespeare. Though, I remember doing that in college.
