It was probably Amen. Jon should have given that one to someone who could have sang it right.
In Pictures of You I think his voice is great, too. That's why I like the song. Still, the kid has a point as his voice sounds like that live.

Although he is speculating, you do see the same pattern throughout each tour where his voice starts off weak and then gets stronger as it progresses. I'm even seeing it now and Jon knows it too. That's why his set-lists are getting better.

Jon wears his other hats when he's not touring which makes me think he's not fully engaged vocally doing whatever. You could even hear Jon's decline on the Studio Albums which there should be absolutely no excuse for. That's just him and Shanks failing to put in the proper time and attempts.

Years ago a famous woman singer was interviewed at the beginning of her tour. She said that she had thrown up 3x on the way to the airport knowing that her voice wasn't in the best of shape. She finally just told herself that a month into the tour her voice would be better. At the time I was shocked that a singer would go out on the road "unprepared" and discount a month's worth of fans as she got her voice into shape. I guess it happens particularly if a singer has a life involving family and other interests.

And who would this famous lady be?

I think that everytime they stop doindg shows for a long time Jon's voice got worse, and then when they come back it's like a hell for him. Although when the tour goes on his voice gets better.

I guess that his voice in the two last shows sounded pretty good.

That kid needs a beating. How dare he criticize god.

On a related note, please make him listen to other music so he gets laid later on.

Yeah, and this was all done without Jon's consent, right?

Jon's got himself to blame, all this "Doc made us tour so much" is bullshit. Jon could've said stop, but he didn't. Instead, he pushed for more shows, but that's not the story everyone wants to hear. His vocals have been on a steady decline ever since that happened, but Doc's nowhere to be found anymore. Jon's problem is his lack of training whenever he's not on tour. He doesn't do warming up shows, instead he treats the first shows of a tour as a warming up. Still, he goes out playing for 2 hours straight when not having done such a thing in a good year. It's like trying to run a marathon when you've not gone out of the house for a year.

Your absolutely spot on compare Jon to Myles Kennedy for example. Myles is only 5 years younger than Jon but his voice is still in prime shape. The reason being Myles looks after his voice, he realises it is his instrument. Myles has often been referred to as a bit of a recluse pre and post gigs because he doesn't do alot of interviews but the reason he doesn't is he doesn't want to harm his voice. Watch the doc on Alter Bridge's live at Wembley DVD to see how much he does to protect his voice.

The cigarettes won't help Jon either.

Agreed. I do think Myles' voice has became weaker over the past year or so but he does suffer a lot with colds/flu and has constantly been recording/touring for a few years now whether it be with Slash or Alter Bridge. Or even Mayfield Four just before Alter Bridge.

I don't think Jon will ever be able to sing without looking constipated anymore. Even if he was to have a vocal coach and properly warm up, I do think his voice is going to stay this way for good now. He will progress during tours but it will always be shot in gigs I think.
