Misunderstood is my favourite Bon Jovi song but I'm not sure I'd want to hear it live, it'd probably sound like that goat version on YouTube.

It has to be hard for bands with a large catalogue to pick songs that will make everyone happy. Nice, when they try. But I just read a quote from Paul McCartney when he was ask about what songs he selects for his set lists. I liked his answer.

" I don't want those people in my audience thinking "Hey, we came for big hits,& U played a bunch of shit"

As it now I think it was 2001/2002? Fairly sure it was between OWN and Bounce. I remember when it was just on the main dry county page.

EDIT: I joined in July of 02 so it must have started a few months before Bounce was released.

This is mark 2 of the board. The old board was similar, I joined that for the first time back in 2001.

And back then you didn't have to join to be able to post - or even read the forums. That came later.

It says I joined in 2003 but I was reading and posting here way earlier than that. Right about then I had to join to be able to post.

The reasoning behind this question is so easy to answer now in 2014 and so much more clearer then it was back in 2005.

The next ten years will be scary. Or maybe not. My prediction, Jon will end up as a solo artist doing acoustic shows. What he did with Bobby the other night will be Jon's permanent gig in ten years. He might have some kind of band backing him in an acoustical format. Sort of like a James Taylor.

All bands do that since there are no songs that fans as a whole don't like. If you are talking about jovitalk BJ fans, we are a small bunch.

Every setlist Bon Jovi has on a any night contains one or two songs fans absolutely don't want to hear when visiting a concert. I'm thinking about playing Mystery Train, Say It Isn't So, Misunderstood, Capt. Crash, those sort of songs.

Please don't come up with "I like Mystery Train, or I like Misunderstood" because it's obvious that almost everyone fan thinks that those songs are the worst songs Bon Jovi has made since 2000. I'm saying almost everyone, as I like Mystery Train. Please don't let this topic become an "I like Mystery Train too!" thing.

But what's the use in playing songs no one wants? I really can't think of any band playing songs the crowd doesn't like except for Bon Jovi.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I'm sure many other bands do that. Case in point, Iron Maiden during AMOLAD tour.
Actually, all bands who insist on playing their new album in entirety is guilty of this.

Hasn't this site been here since 1997/1998? I remember a site where it was split between Bon Jovi/REM/Queen on the front page. Was sure it was a very early incarnation of this one.
