I read a quote from Jon saying that he has never invested in stocks and shares, because he wouldn't put his money in to something he dosen't understand!
I also an article recently that all the profits from the Soul goes towards local good causes, but I'm not sure how accurate that was!

yup, i saw that aswell, which makes the figure of 200million seem fairly accurate.

Yea, I'd like to see them too. I used to do the accounting and tax for the now defunct AFL team, Carolina Cobras. They lost money every year they were in existance which was only about 4 years. However, the Soul has the highest attendance record and moves a lot of merchandise. Jon had said in the first year they broke even which is phenomonal for a first year franchise. I'm guessing though the profit margin is quite small.

You'll be hard pressed though to get your hands on financial statements since the Soul isn't a publicly traded company but more likely than not a limited liability company of some sort.

yeh, tis what i thought. are any of your big teams actually traded or all just private limited companies? i know over here the trend is for big football teams to float but didn't know if it was the same over there. as for breaking even, it just goes to show what a big name behind a side will do. many people who had never been to an american football game in their life became fans overnight.

In the US even the huge NFL is not a public company but a big tiered partnership. Yep, having Jon's name behind the Soul has no doubt insured that it stays a float for at least while. Most of the AFL teams have a hard time not folding since they don't have the same revenue sharing contracts and paid advertising behind them that the NFL has.
