Best line in the song!

Default you must be joking Becky

See, not many Jovi fans share the same problem with this awesome song... Maybe old, but NSG is a beautiful, sentimental, high school ballad. I love this song, what a guitar sound, just beautiful!

But I still love that song! I don't listen to it regularly, but when it catches me in the right moment it's one of my favorites straight again!

About the discussion acoustic vs electric version - I think the acoustic version brings the song more to today's standards and leaves the 80's touch in the past. I would have loved to hear it in the original version at some point (not just on the SWW with Jon's shitty scratchy vocals), but my all-time number one performance was one with just Jon and Richie:

Love the ending "...remember when you used to tell me...we were gonna be the king and the queen of the prom...I guess those days are gone..."
That just emphasizes the melancholic feeling I always get when listening to that song.
I was wondering (I'm not a native English speaker), what were the exact words at the end of this marvelous song. Now I know. Thanks you, man!

Best ballad for me is Livin In Sin
Agreed. Both NSG and LIS are top songs for me, and the original arrangements are still perfect.

Default Question or not?

In this song, Jon starts line a couple of time with: 'Remember...' Are those questions directed to his girlfriend at those times or just like ' I remember..." ?

King...or anything from first 2 albums easily kick the s**t outta anything released in past decade. I suppose Fahrenheit is bit far from the taste of today's target audience. Nevertheless, it is way underrated album.

Sounding dated. Sure. Everything before loudness wars sound dated. But my opinion is that in most cases all that stuff sound better than messed up, loud crap.

I don't think it sounds dated, it's just a song people stop loving as they grow up. It's a highschool graduation song, and after those memories are left behind, so does this song. I still love it, and I'd love to hear the full electric version live someday (I don't like the acoustic one).

Comparing it with the other ballads, is crap IMO. This Ain't A Love Song, I'll Be There For You, Always, Living In Sin, Lie To Me and ever newer stuff like 'Till We Ain't Strangers Anymore or Make A Memory kicks this song ass.

The lines he sang were already mentioned above: "Remember when you used to tell me we're gonna be the king and the queen of the prom - I guess those days are gone".
It most likely was just an ad-lib, something he used to do on Living In Sin and I'll Be There For You permanently during the era.

If you tried to answer my question, you failed. I wasn't taking here about this particular version of NSG, but the main record version. In this song there are several lines starting with 'Remember' like, "Remember days of skipping school..." I'd like to know if these are in fact questions or rather looking-back statements or maybe both depending on an individual interpretation? In other words, is it like for example:
1) Do you remember days of skipping school? or
2) I remember days of skipping school.

Christ, how come so many people like TAALS so much? I've always thought (I mean from the very day the single was released) it was hardly OK, especially as it came right after Always. NGS is a classic in my opinion even though like some of you I prefer the acoustic version (I'm listening to NSG recorded in Miami in 93 right now, god I miss those days and this voice...). And for the record I think the backseat line is great!
