New Classic Rock Debate: Bon Jovi: Should We Care?? PART ONE

I usually like Classic Rock magazine/blogs, but this is really far off the mark in my opinion:

Blah blah blah.....more of the same crap we've been reading and hearing since the early 90's.

Brilliant article and it's lit the fire inside my belly about the bands regression into mediocrity. This guy knows his stuff about the band and sounds like a fan, it's not like some journo who knows nothing of them has come in and written this.

The band have lost 80% of what they had in the mid nineties. The passion has gone, the sincerity non existent and the playing dumbed down to suit what ever pop rock agenda Jon has.

Look at Jon at the start of any show in the 00's, he comes out with this big cheesy grin and you can see he's dead behind the eyes, he's never looking at anyone in particular in the crowd. He couldn't care less if no one showed up as long as he got his cheque.

The guy is 100% right, most of us still care because we have some blind faith, we believe somewhere deep inside that the band are gonna say "f*ck it" and play hard.

The X Factor has killed off any remaining creditability the band has and I can't see any more than the ten nights at the O2 selling out.

It's interesting to read this, because Malcolm Dome has generally been one of the major rock journalists to get behind the band since they were front cover regulars in Kerrang! and Raw...all those years ago! I seriously thought that Classic Rock would be more enthusiastic about the new album...but who knows what's going on behind the scenes with Jon and the rock press. Sounds like there's a big chip on the shoulder about Jon ignoring them, whether they think the new record is good or not....I'll stay tuned for Dave 'Def Leppard' Ling's installment tomorrow.

I subscribe to classic rock mag and the album came out too early for them to review it in this months edition.

will be interesting to see what they give it next month.

Believe it or not, not everyone thinks everything they did with These Days is perfect. Granted, I'd take it any day over most of the post 2000 stuff, but personally, I think The Circle shits all over it.

I just find this constant bashing funny when no doubt the same people would say "Oasis is a band that cares", even though their lead singer has quit the band half a dozen times. To them, that's passion. To me, it's horseshit.

Liam Gallagher has never left Oasis. Not once.

I saw them in September of 1996 for the 1st time. There was about2 weeks of dates that Liam wasn't there in the US.
