Because Jon is the sole determiner of the ticket prices for each venue? No promoters or venue management are involved, right?

Thanks for enlightening me.

if there is high demand for a concert it should techincally mean that ticket prices can be cheaper

I see your point, but compared to the other artist that have been listed, who has the bigger show.It is more expensive to play a stadium, alot of that has to do with all the ppl that have to be employed to pull off a stadium show.Im sure they have alot more ppl working behind the scenes then the others mentioned...therefore alot more paychecks have to be handed out.and then there are the promoters that see a big named band coming thru and have done well for them in the past and expect to make alot of money. I love how ppl always blame one person in the band(Jon) or the band in its entirety when these decisions have to go thru the record company, promoters, etc. These things are decided well in advance to the tour even being announced to the public.I think the question is why record companies and individual promoters have to make things more expensive for the fans. And then there is the fact that there are ppl that will pay whatever it takes to see a show.Personally there is a limit on what I spend to see a show.ultimately its my decision on how much $$$ I want to supply to the record company, band and promoters.

You answered your own question:

They make it more expensive for the fans because they know they can. I'm not condoning it, but think about it, that's what they are in business for. To make as much $$ as they can, and they see a gig like Bon Jovi come along and they don't see anything but dollar signs.

I don't like insults in reference to Jon and/or the band but this quote is so true!!! I don't think I could have said it any better myself. Although I now stand a good chance to be "banned" from backstage for saying this here. There is no "freedom of speech" associated with the BSWJBJ message boards. You either kiss everybody's ass or get the hell out...there's no in between!

how much is $65 in pounds (soz, can't get the the sign on this stoopid keyboard) cause that's how much a tom petty ticket costs- apparently it's really cheap compared to most other artists- and TP rocks :P

instead of being ignorant perhaps you should have read below...

but the band/(whoever is in charge anyway)

m sure they have alot more ppl working behind the scenes then the others mentioned...therefore alot more paychecks have to be handed out
which is why i said proportionately it still is more profitable... example - an arena show has the same number of roadies... the main numbers change for security etc which are paid by the venue...

and having 60,000 people paying say £30 instead of just 12,000 (eg wembley arena) more than makes up for a few extra staff

Personally there is a limit on what I spend to see a show.ultimately its my decision on how much $$$ I want to supply to the record company, band and promoters.
it's not your decision on how much no...

you either pay what they want or you pay nothing at all and don't go
