what's wrong with that? It surely pays their bills nicely.

«If anybody tells you that they play rock music for any other reason than to make millions and millions of dollars . . . they're lying. It's that simple. Having invested considerable amounts of capital into a number of winning enterprises. I know a cash cow when I see one. You see, I don't play rock music. I "play" rock bands! The same way other "play" the horses.

You can buy into all these romantic notions that rock music is:

a) An instrument for social change
b) That angry voice of youth
c) Art

But while you're buying the implied importance of rock music, I'm buying houses, cars, villas on the Costa Del Sol! That's rock 'n' roll!
See you by the pool!»

Aaaaaaaaactually I brought my friend to his first jovi concert. He's a fan or anything, although he appreciates the music. To this day, if I ask him what his favorite song they did was, he'll be all "The one that's not even their song...what was it? oh. Shout"

As much as people don't like it, I personally love it, it really gets the crowd jumping.

He hasn't been to any since then. My point is, the song does appeal the casual fan. Hell, I've seen their show twice and I still look forward to hearing the song again, but that's just me.

Believe me the crowd in Vegas loved Shout and all the old same old. Most fans at a show in the States are going to be casual fans who either heard of Bon Jovi because of IML or were fans in the 80's who haven't kept up with the band except on a casual basis. Like it or not unlike someone like Springsteen Bon Jovi is a hits band. The majority of the audience are not waiting to be blown away by a rarity but are there to have a good time hearing music they know and love. I think as long time fans we have to concede as much we know Bon Jovi is so much more than that depending on the show we are not going to see it much. Not that we can't keep asking for better set lists but I think the best you will ever see is an occasional rarity like Diamond Ring in Philly 2003 dusted off but not a wholesale change because frankly it works for them.
