And regarding The Circle and modern age downloads and record business in 2010,it is a bigger commercial success than both Bounce and TD.It sold decently and even one Rihanna sells about 3,4 million copies worldwide nowadays, whereas in 1988 she would have sold at least 20 million. However, with proper singles released and promo done,TC would be much more succesful.
This is correct about the TD sales. 1 Millions shipments. Not Sales.

And I had a similar argument in another thread. Circle is much more successful than TD.

There are some good songs on DA - and some truely awful songs on there. Midnight In Chelsea is on of about 4 awful songs.

Even if The Circle did sell more than These Days in America (Which it didn't) These Days categorically trounced The Circle everywhere else.

The Circle didn't sell more than These Days (Although it's close). These Days was released before downloading music existed and artist were selling 5 times the amount of albums that they are selling today. If this was 1995 and The Circle was released, it would have probably sold close to double platinum by now.

I'm not pushing hard to protect TD but I wonder were are your facts that prove those numbers? And also I don't wanna be a morron and not to start a fight, just really asking, 'cause if you don't know RIAA is the organ that certificates the albuns with Platinum and Gold status. That's sales guys, not shippments. Sometimes off course there's a discrepancy here and there but officialy the certification goes to sold albuns.

We are often asked why we don’t just use sales figures from SoundScan. SoundScan measures over-the-counter sales at music retail locations, while the RIAA®'s certification levels are based on unit shipments (minus returns) from manufacturers to a wide range of accounts, including non-retail record clubs, mail order houses, specialty stores, units shipped for Internet fulfillment or direct marketing sales, such as TV-advertised albums.

Best regards,

Thanks, that explains. So, where we can find the SoundScan numbers? And those 120,000,000 albuns sold are based on what? sound scan or riia's certification?

Opinion is a funny thing. I think Midnight in Chelsea is one of the best songs Jon's ever had a part in writing.

I also agree. In fact I don't think there is a single negative thing about that entire album. It's a masterpiece as far as I'm concerned.
