LOL - This thing becomes more of a joke every year.
The two most influential Rap groups ever.

They made a bigger impact in the music scene than Bon Jovi.

And what? Your point being? Its the Rock and Roll hall of fame, your comment is therefore invalid.

Even the more 'pop' acts still have plenty of rock influences like Michael Jackson, Elton etc. Rap is a world away from rock and roll music, and despite a brief Run DMC inspired mashup and a terrible nu-metal phase, it has stayed a world away.

And even though we say this every year, it is clearly a personal vendetta they have against Bon Jovi for some reason. When acts such as Aerosmith, GNR, U2, Alice Cooper, ACDC and Van Halen have all made the cut, it doesn't really make much sense to include so many random nominees over Bon Jovi.

They call Rock and Roll to all the popular music since the second half of the 20th century.

If they only included acts with the original rock and roll sound, the hall of fame would be really small. Not even the Stones or Pink Floyd would be there.

So The Stones aren't rock and roll? I don't know if you are a troll here or not, as most of your posts don't make much sense.

So, if its all 'popular music since the 2nd half of the century', then where is Mariah Carey? Whitney Houston? Garth Brooks? It is meant to be more geared towards 'Rock and roll' and similar genres, Rap is not, and yet they are including rap artists ahead of several large rock acts.

Opinion, and one that many would consider wrong.

Ask 10 people if they know who Jon Bon Jovi is.
Ask 10 people if they know who Chuck D is.

That thing is a joke anyway and it's kinda confusing the fact that it matters so much to Jon and the guys. The best thing to ever come out of that was the concert on HBO sometime ago, and the greatest thing that would happen if Bon Jovi were to ever be inducted would be to have them take part in such a thing if it was to be done again....

Aloha !

It's as if Bon Jovi's fans get just as upset and frustrated about the band not being inducted as the band themselves, or at least Jon and Richie get. I don't get the fascination with the hall of fame anyway, the only really good thing that's come out of it was that concert about a year ago, apart from that it's just a society run by a bunch of snobs, really. Why worry so much about it when the first thing that'll happen is Jon jacking up the prices even more because "Even the hall of fame thinks they're important".

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

The Stones are highly influenced by rock and roll, but they don't sound exactly like Elvis, Buddy Holly and the rest of the early rock and roll acts.

Jazz, Blues, Folk, Metal, R&B, Prog are not strictly Rock and Roll. Should we exclude those artists too?

Sure, Bon Jovi sold more records.

But Public Enemy inspired more artists. Their influence is still big in modern (Gangsta) Rap.

You are totally missing the point on so many things, I am not even going to bother mentioning them all. And who said rock and roll has to be ''early rock and roll''? You pulled that one out of thin air.

And of course The Stones are a Rock and Roll band for gods sake, you don't have to be from the 50's to be classified in that genre. That genre includes many of the sub genres like metal, prog, blues etc and a lot of crossover between them all, all under the same umbrella. Rap is a different 'family'.

But yeah, whatever. Swings and roundabouts.

Public Enemy, good at what they do, but not as influential in the wider world of Rock And Roll as you think, and neither are a lot of the previous nominees.
