Novocaine is one of my favorite Jovi songs. The lyrics and the melody are brilliant.

i think it could be the amount of Phasing that is put on the guitar.
It's my fav from HAND and always think the Chorus of My Chemical Romance's "Im not ok" is pretty similiar

i agree some of the HAND songs have a different 'sound'
no idea what i'd call it, but i LOVE most of the songs from the album...
