A similar thing for me.
i've listened to "I'll be there for you" from TLFR and after I stopped laughing I put in Crush because I want to hear "the ruin of BJ" from the beginning but then I thought "What the hell - electric guitars!!!!" I was scared at first

because I'm not used to them anymore because of Bounce and TLFR but then I listened through the whole album and thought at the end: "well at least one good effect TLFR had, now I kind of like Crush".
It's my life was great anyway,no discussion ever, Say it isn't so is quite nice because it contains two guitars and a nice riff. TYFLM,sorry, is still just a crappy self copy, the lyric is just a collection of lines we've heard already a thousend times, the music is nothing special, not enough electric guitar, they tried to make it something special by drowning it in strings ībut this just makes it kinda trashy.
Two story town still sucks because of those crappy computer sounds at the beginning.
100 years is a great song, former I didn't like it cause of the "Na-Na-Nas" but these days I'm just happy to hear electric guitars in Bj music(terrible how modest I became through Bounce and TLFR).
Just older is a classic, Mystery train still their worst song, Save the world is just trivial, cap.Crash is a nice AOR song, but nothing more. She's a mystery is still the most underrated BJ song ever,I got the girl has lousy verses but a nice chorus, OWN and If I could make a living are both great.
In the end: Still a mediocre album with a too less really convincing songs(IML,OWN,Just older,If I could make a living), some good ones(SIIS,100 years, Cap.Crash,She's a mystery), some trivial stuff which also could have been left out and nobody would miss it(TYFLM,Save the world,I got the girl) and some crap(Two story town,Mystery train).
To compare this record to records like NJ or KTF is just ridiculous, but out of BJ's darkest era it's the best(if you had told me one year ago that I'm gonna say this one day

,sad times we're living in).
