Default Off topic but...

Ok, I posted this in the file sharing requests area, but I know fewer people check that out. So, this is a bit off topic but it is for the good of the joviphiles...

I have been trying desperatly for years to get an FTP server to run on my network. When I had my dial up modem, it worked, but it was so damn slow it didn't matter. Now that I have a cable modem and a 2 comp network with a linksys router, I CANNOT make it work. I know this board is for fil-sharing REQUESTS, so I am requesting some help here. I am going crazy with this crap!
I am using one of the most recent versions of Serv-U ftp. I hear good things about BFTP, but I don't know why it should behave much differently

Can someone give me detailed instructions to set it up, preferably someone who has set up an ftp behind a linksys, but if you know how, I REEEEEEALLY would would appreciate the info regardless I have tried using the passive mode data transfer but haven't gotten it to work.

If you have any other ideas as to how to share certain files between my friends easily, I would be open to that as well. Ftp is so nice though because everyone has a webbrowser and doesn't need to download any software or buy any software to use it.

I know my WAN IP (I think) and my local IP

PLEEEEASE. This is ridiculous

THANK YOU!!!
B

Dunno if I can help - I have a working one, but I'm no expert

Just one thing - do u have a firewall set up?? Aside from that, I just set it up normally & it worked (I have a cable modem too).

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
