"What Have We Done" is one of the songs from RSO's PBS Soundstage performance in October 2017. I have no earthly idea why it wasn't released on their album; because I think it's one of their best, if not THE best song they did together. But as far as I know, this is the only time it was even performed. Enjoy!

It really is a fantastic song, and is the kind of song that could do really well on country radio. I can only presume that it was written after the album was already recorded? Which means we may never get it released now

Thanks for sharing!

I've been as critical of the whole RSO project as anyone and find most of their songs to be turds, but this one is really good! It's better than every song on that album not named Take Me. I agree that it would've had single potential on country radio as it would probably appeal to Lady Antebellum fanbase.

There's just something REALLY strange about one of the few promo shows the album got having so few new songs but including one that didn't make the album. Something tells me that song was intended to be released for "something" but plans changed. Closest comparison is the band rehearsing Fields of Fire for Evening With I guess.

Maybe it was for a soundtrack or something? When did that show tape?

October 31, 2017.

The other question that popped into my mind was related to Thinny's comment about when it may have been recorded. I remember us learning about the title as one of the songs but I can't place it into the timeline in my head, without going back through the thread. I'll try to find that discussion and see if it sheds any light on the subject.

I don't know if I agree. A sample of that song leaked long before the final album came out but I can't remember what from. Maybe it was from Extra or Entertainment Tonight interviewed them or something?

I don't remember hearing a sample. I remember the title; but I'm pretty sure Chicago was the first I had heard any of the song. That opening knocked me cold; and if I'd heard anything else as it went on, I think I would have recognized it and made the connection.

EDIT: Apologies, my Captain! Scratch everything after "I don't remember hearing a sample..." Not only had I heard a snippet before Chicago; but I posted the damn thing!!!

So, Thinny, it was apparently recorded prior to September 4, 2017, which is when I posted this:

Damn, then that makes absolutely no sense why they would not include it on the album, and even less sense that they would perform it at this show. Mind you, a lot about the way they ran project didn't make sense.

I remember them saying that there would be more EPs after the album, but that obviously never happened. It would probably have turned up on one of those. I wonder how much more material there is unreleased?

I hope we get to hear the full studio version sometime, but I doubt it
