One of my absolute favourites among the Saturday Night performances:

A great version of These Days from London 2013, with Jon sounding surprisingly strong and solid:

And a pretty decent performance of Always from the same show:

I think the last week of June and the first week of July '13 were the last times Jon sounded okay-ish in general. (That said, his voice was really shot in Madrid!) For example, both These Days and This Ain't A Love Song were pretty f***ing amazing in Milan, even considering Jon's regular post-2k standards and not only how he sounded in 2013:

The last "YES, I'm wrong..." on TAALS was the last time Jon's VOICE alone was enough to give me goosebumps. Not even the Sao Paulo '17 version of BOR was equal to the vocal power Jon was able to display one last time during the version of This Ain't A Love Song in Milan on June 29, 2013; actually, I'd even say that was - to quote our friend Walleris - the last vintage performance of Jon Bon Jovi as a vocalist to date, instead of the BOR performance I previously mentioned or the (way above par, but still not great) Greenville '17 version of Always. That last note of TAALS was equal to Jon's '08-'11 standards.

That raspy voice and that scream in the end reminded me why I listened to them despite of my age. Also I think this is only the version where he belt out that scream.

Right before the solo, Jon went nuts. Haven't seen it in a while! Still can't get over it!

Jon also went nuts on Saturday Night in Sao Paulo - I really don't know what got into him that night, but it certainly proves that his voice isn't shot; his confidence is, and whenever he manages to turn the "stress button" off, he becomes himself again:

These Days was phenomenal as well, with Jon even going for the raspy "Ain't nobody LEFT BUT US these days..." at the end of the song:

As a whole, I think the whole gig was the band's best one since Lisbon 2011 (or at least since Milan 2013). Even Always sounded somewhat bearable - really pitchy at times, but definitely better than in Greenville at least, as that version (which seems to be everybody's favorite) was terribly inconsistent in my opinion:

I much prefer the way Jon sings the "I'll be there 'til the stars don't shine..." part on the video above to the flat screeching of Greenville. Okay, the last note really was something else there, but otherwise I prefer this:

For me, the LA version of Always is actually the best one of the year, as while Jon definitely struggled on some parts of the song there, he also managed to hit some of the notes with the kind of power that was nowhere to be found in Greenville, Sao Paulo or even Toronto. Just check out the way he belts out the "WILL love you" here:

Show me any moment where Jon's voice is stronger than that on a post-early '13 Always performance and then we'll talk.

Actually, the whole LA show was/is one my favorites of the whole tour so far, as while Jon's vocals weren't the best there, he was surprisingly energetic + mobile and actually went for quite a few of the high notes instead of dodging them. For example, he absolutely nailed the "lay my hands on YOOOOOUUUUU..." part on LYHOM:

https://youtu.be/M0FpecH2NW0?t=1m45s

His energy on Bad Medicine was amazing, reminding me of the HAND tour:

Hell, even We Got It Going On wasn't the snoozefest it usually is, as Jon really pushed himself out of his comfort zone and, for once, wasn't afraid of moving a bit from the center stage:

Say what you want to, but in my opinion, there have been signs of JBJ regaining his energy + showmanship throughout the THINFS tour - he just reached new heights in South America:

I agree, I don’t get the love for the Greenville performance of Always. I was glad they played it, but his vocals were weak in my opinion. Toronto was much better. Jon was gassed in LA, but that was Phil’s best solo. He killed it.

Sao Paulo was beyond fantastic... Maybe because it was the last show, maybe because of the crowd energy, maybe they wanted to release it professionally... or maybe Jon just wanted to prove something to himself but regardless of the one off performances, Jon delivered more passion than he has in a decade and that's all I could ask for at this stage in the game...

I think the crowd gave a huge confidence boost to Jon. There aren't a lot of crowds like that in US. I mean who wants to give your all on such a dead crowd right?

Yeah, I agree, Jon was clearly feeding off the crowd. And with it being the last show Jon didn't need to worry too much about saving himself for the next show! Was so good to see the energy back!

JBJ said: "Actually Porto Alegre was maybe the Best show of this tour." "I feel f*cking Great!, I feel great! I feel fisically great! We're mentally great! Band is playing great! 'cause only 5 shows is like a vacation, Just great!"

I personally asked him for jungle noises and Spanish and he made it!!! (Keep The Faith and Bed Of Roses), and in BWC tour I asked him for I'm With You, he basically said I was crazy LOL 'cause Rich Scannella didn't know the song...; my point is that here in South America JBJ is a legend! and if you ask him something he does it! he really hears!!

I went to all the concerts in South America, my personal ranking is: 1º: Porto Alegre, 2º: Sao Paulo, 3º: Chile, 4º: Argentina and 5º: Rio.

-_-
