I miss THAT Jon. Could anyone of us have predicted to hear that vocal god sound like this on the same song just 24 years later (yes, it may sound like a long time, but remember that in just a little more than six years the year 2000 will be 24 years ago from then - it's not THAT long after all):

You can hardly tell it's the same guy singing...

It's not even the same personality either... Jon had a cool quiet passive laid-back way about him... His personality and music were the perfect match... It's like they were one in the same if that makes any sense... it all seemed real... his moves, his adlibs, his smile just naturally became part of the music... Now it all seems fake and rehearsed.
But I guess age, other priorities, and lack of confidence will do that to you...
However like I said a million times over, I'd rather have the Bon Jovi we have today verses not having any of it at all... The fact that I'm still seeing this band 30 plus years later is cool... I still enjoy the live shows and I still enjoy the new music... Maybe not every song, maybe the bootlegs are a disappointment but I do find elements to enjoy...
It's my Star Wars analogy... Nothing will ever be better than that original trilogy but it doesn't mean that the new movies aren't good or enjoyable... They are not even comparable on so many levels but I still enjoy watching them... Same with JBJ... Nothing will ever compare to Slippery, NJ, Faith, TD, Blaze, Stranger, but it doesn't mean that the stuff after isn't enjoyable... Make A Memory, Loves The Only Rule, Teardrop To The Sea, Rollercoaster, etc... All good stuff
