Ladies and gentlemen, that was probably the last time Jon actually SANG a song live. As sad as it is to admit, that noise coming out of his mouth during the songs nowadays can't be called singing (with few-and-far-between exceptions happening every now and then, such as BOR and LYHOM in Rio '17).

I'd love to know what Seb thinks about that Nashville show...
Jon's voice also had a surprise appearance during the second part of Always from Brisbane 2013.

Thanks for the reminder! Yes, it did - and I really don't know how that was possible, as he sounded absolutely terrible during the show in general. That said, his high "Ain't nobody LEFT but us..." part on TD was unexpectedly strong as well:

Of course it is. I've always said that's the case.

Should I stop supporting Liverpool because we lost to Swansea & West Brom? Arguably the two worst teams in the premier league currently. Of course not! Why? Because the week before, we smashed the champions and the best team in the league.

Should I stop supporting the band because Jon sounds like ass on songs live? No. Why? Because 'This House Is Not For Sale' is, in my opinion, a solid album. I also still watch Rock In Rio show from the other month. Was it perfect? No. But it's still shown me glimpses of the band/Jon gaining confidence and sounding better than he did on previous shows. 'Lay Your Hands On Me' and 'Keep The Faith' with the walk down the middle with Phil X and then Shanks are small mini moments that make me smile. Sounds ridiculous but I watch stuff like that and love it.

I get that people go off things. I'm probably not as big a fan as I used to be, in terms of excitement for shows etc.. but they're still my band.

You, Jeeper, know more than most how critical I can be of the band - I'll always support them, though. Just like I'd still support Liverpool if they got relegated.

Same for me, good analogy with the football team.

Considering I Believe: does anybody else find the keyboards too high in the mix compared to the studio version? That's always bothered me, as in the studio version, it's mainly about the guitars and the keyboard is in the background. Live, it just sounds off for that reason. Same for Born To Follow. Only in 2017 did they got the sound of that one almost right...

I was at this gig and I thought it great. I wasnt expecting much after Richie had left but they were excellent that day.

Same.

Im super critical of the band now because the first 6 albums and live performances meant the bar was raised so f*cking high no one was getting near them.
Nowadays - meh - I really dislike THINFS album like the last few albums really. Getting all the albums on Vinyl really brought home how patchy there are as its harder to skip tracks as you have to keep getting up!
Part of me is proud their still going part of me thinks they should've called it day a few years ago. The albums have become so watered down and flooded with filler. The live act isn't the same. I love Phil X but I cant get on-board with Shanks (the man who imo has destroyed the band) and the dude playing bongos and shaking a metal thing filled with rice. Thats NOT Bon Jovi - just like it wasn't Guns N Roses in 92 with the female backing singers, the dude on the sax and playing a triangle - especially after the immense gig on 91 at Wembley. Glad they've stripped it back now.
Guess all that crap started on the Lost Highway tour with the violin and bobby bollox whatever his name was.
I love being in a Jovi time warp from start to 2003. Anything half decent after is a bonus.

This, alongside the Rio one, was probably the best vocal performance Jon pulled off on BOR last year:

https://youtu.be/WvJHCdHQInA

If you wonder why I don't consider it to be the Sao Paulo rendition, Jon's voice was quite hoarse there (although he went for the "Oo-ooh, woah-oo-o-ooh..." part at the end of the song, unlike anywhere else). Both here and in Rio he sounded much smoother.

As a whole, the LYHOM performance of the same show was probably both Jon's and the band's best since Frankfurt 2008:

https://youtu.be/K63T9ekcKYI

Those two (!!!) high "Lay my hands on YOOOOOUUUUU..." parts sounded amazing - by Jon's post-mid-2013 standards, of course.

Also, I think this version of These Days was better (in terms of Jon's vocals - otherwise Sao Paulo definitely takes the cake) than other '17 performances of the song, even though he dodged the last high part here:

https://youtu.be/GJUtPzhjRys

Jon managed to reach (although briefly) unexpectedly many of the high notes on the last two choruses. Maybe him varying the phrasing of some lines helped him control his breathing and therefor also his range better than usually?

This is the way I feel, too, Jeeper. I still love and support Jon and the band. I like both new albums (BB and THINFS, with the bonus songs) and wish they would do more of those in their shows. I can usually enjoy the new songs in the live performances, but the classics leave a lot to be desired. For that 'fix' I typically find myself playing videos from happier times.

I won't pretend that I'm a huge fan of the current lineup or that Jon's voice is all that I miss. Not by a long shot. But even with the changes, Jon's vocal struggles, and the MIA guitarist, Bon Jovi is still my band and I still look for the best from them; just like I still look for the best every time I hear something new from Richie and RSO.

I guess maybe I really am an eternal optimist.
