A hot topic about Jon's voice has always been about when did Jon's 80/90s voice morph into his post 2000 technique and now a sub topic to that could be, when did Jon stop singing with that post 2000 technique?

I would say that he's still got it in 2014. somewhere between '14 and '15 something blew up.

that's why i think about some health issues...this kind of change isn't just about technique...breathing problems can't be part of that change...who knows maybe he had surgery on his vocal chords but he doesn't want to tell?

I would say that late 2013 was potentially the worst Jon's voice was, probably along with the Asian 2015 tour and much of 2016-17. 2014 he seemed okay but his confidence seemed low. At the very least JBJ the frontman seems to be making a return based off of the latest leg of the 2018 tour.

Yes agreed, we need to seperate the issues of confidence, stage presence and showmanship, from the physical state of his voice and the vocal techniques. Two different things !

Vocal cord surgery is very risky.
Breathing technique changes really nothing but being able to hold a stable note and slightly reduce vocal effort.
The reason he sounded like that on Raise your hands (Especially this one 2011) or most songs is due to TWANG.
Actual nasality makes voices sound kind of dull, etc.
Twang is narrowing of epiglottic funnel.
Nasality is airflow through the nose.
But there is another thing, you will have a small amount of unnoticeable/unheard nasality using twang due to mostly muscle memory as I remember.
The reason Jon sounded horrible using twang was cause he used way too much twang especially during for example Raise Your Hands in 2011. Your only meant to use twang at a normal amount which is very little.
A good amount of twang could be Jon singing in 2000. He started using twang often around 1997.

A way performances 2001 - 2013 could become very good is to remove all twang and maybe add a bit rasp to some parts, also forget about making as correct vowels as possible (Aaalwaaays instead of Aaalwyyyyyys)

Many times, the real “bad boy” sings nothing at all (he just jumps the words in the lyric...)
