As others have said their days of Hits are behind them now! Sadly, great shows too, as in really great shows. Great songs are still a possibility, like Eveline says, something real and with passion...I've had enough When We Were Us, Walls type songs...

Thank you! This is exactly what I meant! It's not riding a big wave anymore, but it's still exciting... if only Jon decides to get out of his comfort zone, to push the limits a little further. He doesn't need to be perfect. Being real is what matters way more. I'm sure that with time even $$$ still flowing in won't stop you from feeling disgusted with yourself and your band becoming The Machine aka a factory of soulless songs with ten-second long guitar solos.

I've read countless opinions on the last few BJ albums but have to agree these songs do sound all the same. I didn't become a fan when IML hit the radio stations. I stumbled upon the older stuff on youtube and was amazed how fresh and varied their music was. Crush? Bounce? The Circle? WAN? THINFS? Please...

Bon Jovi reinvented themselves a few times so they're not afraid of change. If it doesn't happen now, it never will. If it's all coming slowly to an end, with fewer tours and stuff, then do it with a bang! And I don't mean more spectular shows or great anthems, either.

BTW. Aerosmith announced that they're launching a residency in Vegas next year. Some fans already said the band sank to such depths they're game over now. Sometimes the choices do baffle but who knows, maybe there's evolution in that, too?

JBJ has said about a residency in Vegas recently: “Have we been approached? Yes, we have. But it’s a big world, and we’re still exploring it. But I’m not ready to settle down yet. It’s flattering. But I’m not ready for it.”

I also remember JBJ saying when he started THINFS: “I lacked focus. I was writing songs for songs’ sake.”
At the end, I really don’t like THINFS!!! I said in the last page I liked Knockout, House, Drive you home... but too little that I don’t even hear those songs... I’m always hearing other Bon Jovi songs that I love.

And that’s my comment in a cold Sunday in Peru... lol

Thank you for that quote Yovana. Actually for many a residency in Vegas isn't flattering but maybe JBJ thinks otherwise.

And so true about the last album. I realized I don't listen to those songs at all!

This is the kind of stuff he could still deliver and this song/performance sends shivers down my spine each time again:

I realized not that long ago that self confidence isn't the only reason of Jon often being at mic stand. It also seems to be due to the teleprompters. You can see him discreetly reading the teleprompters while singing.

Lisbon 2011 TAALS, very nice TAALS version.

Bon Jovi - This Ain't A Love Song (Lisbon 2011) - YouTube

Jon had teleprompters in 1996 and was walking around, he had them in 2010 and was walking around.
At those times it could've been a reason to stand there for one song or two because the sets changed a lot, but these days every night is pratically the same.
