Thank you! This is exactly what I meant! It's not riding a big wave anymore, but it's still exciting... if only Jon decides to get out of his comfort zone, to push the limits a little further. He doesn't need to be perfect. Being real is what matters way more. I'm sure that with time even $$$ still flowing in won't stop you from feeling disgusted with yourself and your band becoming The Machine aka a factory of soulless songs with ten-second long guitar solos.
I've read countless opinions on the last few BJ albums but have to agree these songs do sound all the same. I didn't become a fan when IML hit the radio stations. I stumbled upon the older stuff on youtube and was amazed how fresh and varied their music was. Crush? Bounce? The Circle? WAN? THINFS? Please...
Bon Jovi reinvented themselves a few times so they're not afraid of change. If it doesn't happen now, it never will. If it's all coming slowly to an end, with fewer tours and stuff, then do it with a bang!

And I don't mean more spectular shows or great anthems, either.
BTW. Aerosmith announced that they're launching a residency in Vegas next year. Some fans already said the band sank to such depths they're game over now. Sometimes the choices do baffle but who knows, maybe there's evolution in that, too?
