Thomas Marolda ft Richie Sambora - Baby I'm Not

Whilst searching for something almost completely unrelated this popped up - I know there was another song he and Richie did together but I've not heard this one before.

Spoiler - it's pretty terrible. And the text says that Richie's vocals came from cassettes so god knows how old it is.

You can just tell in the intro that they were playing With A Little Help From My Friends a lot during this era. I wonder if the released version was exchanged last minute because of the similarities?

With A Little Help From My Friends in the intro and Shooting Star during the verses.
Despite those obvious similarities I understand why they exchanged it. The electric version just doesn't seem finished. It's a compilation of different parts and not a single song in its entirety.

And yet, if we'd get a song like this these days, we'd all be over the moon with it. Back then, it didn't make the cut. How times have changed

Well, at least they had another big solo ending with Next 100 Years after that

As awesome as the electric version sounds, it also sounds unfinished. Lyrically, and vocally sounds a bit rough around the edges, being a demo and all. Still awesome though. Sigh.

This opinion might be unpopular, but I'd take the final acoustic version of Bitter Wine over the electric demo any day. Jon's vocal is much stronger, the chorus melody in a higher octave sounds much better and the minimalist acoustic guitar + piano arrangement really fits best with the song's message.

It's the perfect ending of the (European and Japanese) TD album, I can't understand why that was not on the tracklist elsewhere. But hey, at least it was in the markets that actually bought the album.

I like their approach to this, but I also think that the final version captures the mood and essence of the song better. Much like with Diamond Ring where they went rather gung ho on the KTF demo and the more mellow approach on These Days was really my cup of tea then.
