I'm just saying that a great frontman who is fair to the band knows how to deal better with that situation. I don't see Bono throwing stinking eyes at his band, neither does Metallica, and the latter have made many mistakes over time, but even so, there is no awkward tension as that Jon creates in many shows.

Bon Jovi was swallowed up by his leader's ego.

Metallica treated Jason like absolute shit more than once. James has overcome a lot of demons over time and become a very "warm" badass, but let's not act like his (and Lars') ego did not scar the band as well.

Yeah, when it's not their **** up Jon looks like an ass. I know it pains you to hear Richie was ever less then perfect but I was at plenty of shows where he made more mistakes then he used to. At some point people have to take responsibility for their own actions Rolo, you can't blame someone for getting frustrated at stuff like that. Like I said, a LOT of the time Jon's stink eye was over stuff no one else would notice but not always.

Alpha has a point, you using Metallica to illustrate your point is a big ol stretch given their actions are what lead to Jason bolting.

when u r in a live situation everything can and will eventually go wrong...we as fans expect perfection but it cant happen each time, on top of that we often compare the live show with doctored dvds...
Richie became a little sloppy but since 2013 the few bum notes were far less than the mistakes phil x makes that we all forgive...
jons attitude with the stink eyes showed what the band became, his hired guys who should never under perform, in a band situation ideally you shouldnt be put on the apot for a mistake. the stink eye highlights even the minor mistake.
ps. i remember the promo shows of thinfs when after a long speech phil x played on the wrong key , th last song, come back to our house??? i dont even remember how its called and jon was so angry, it sounded so out of key, but then realised how stupid this whole thing looked and said live is about mistakes and started over..

I actually think night #2 felt less autopilot and more vibrant throughout the show, whereas night #3 only came to really shine after the PA incident. Jon’s energy on Medicine is furious, electric Saturday Night gets me every time (especially with Jon bringing out some nice rasp on the last chorus), and HAND + KTF are just awesome, with the latter again containing some good ad-libs and additional vocal tricks. And that encore... Jesus Christ.

Always and These Days back-to-back are both very impressive vocally, and Jon even goes for the last ”I LIKE the bed I’m sleeping in” on Older with rasp like he did in the early 2000s!

Sorry, that one’s a winner for me

Mine too, after ’93-’96 😎

"when u r in a live situation everything can and will eventually go wrong" and mistakes happen, yeah. Phil and Richie messing up are two different things. Phil is at the same playing level he was when he started, Richie's playing declined as time went on.

Sorry, I don't agree the stink eye calls more attention to it. If you're in a stadium and you mess up the intro to a song and someone on stage looks at you angrily no one is noticing shit but the diehards. Dude in the back isn't seeing a look Jon gives. I think Jon took things way too seriously and even if the band in that state is miles better than now, there were more **** ups after a certain period then anything before.

Seen a few 89 ones about but looking for 93.

You Know what, there is actually nothing apart from the audio which I find so strange, not one video and I have been searching for years, I went to those shows as well

Also, there certainly ARE bands where having a "strict leader" helped their career. Frank Zappa comes to mind. And who was the guy who had every band member PAY per mistake he caught? Was it Buddie Rich? I think it was some drummer guy. Or was it James Brown?

I agree that the stink eye is unprofessional and make you come across as a bit of an ass. To so obviously show how pissed off you are on stage in front of an audience should never happen, especially in the days when everything is filmed and will end up on YouTube. I've seen many bands make mistakes on stage and usually they either make a joke of it and move on, or just carry on like it never happened. Have words with the band afterwards, sure, but on stage smile and get on with it, Everyone makes mistakes, it's human nature. Even the E street band **** up sometimes, but I've never seen Bruce give a stink eye. He knows better. The ultimate professional. Keith Richards constantly screws up, as does Charlie. Mick just gets on with it. It not like Jon never screws up either...
