Steve Perry might be the best singer ever. I'm into Journey the last few months some of the stuff he's done is absolutely spectacular.

A recording I had been "sitting on" for better part of 2 years now if you will and if you listen to it, you get the idea why. Around December of 2020, a Canadian fan contacted me with this. He had been at the Judas Priest (for whom Bon Jovi were opening at that point) show and only been semi-aware of the band's music (SWW was unreleased at that point). He had been stadning at the left side on the floor and kept wondering why there was some sort of "improvised platform" mounted on the barrier close to him. Turned out that Jon appeared on it and got a few beers thrown at him during the song too (on the existing video recording from Montreal, this gimmick was already abandonded). He said that there was a rise in the audience noise halfway through the song which Jon mistook for them cheering for the tune while, in fact, K.K. Downing and Dave Holland had appeared at the side of stage, looking out to what their opening act was doing. Not standing more than ten metres away from the platform, he recalled how Jon's smile froze once he looked back after the tune, saw Richie talking to them and realized what the crowd had been cheering about. I wouldn't go as far as saying that this was the end of the song live, but as we all know, it has never been documented to have been played afterwards.

But you have to question the judgement of playing "Without Love" to a Judas Priest audience...
