Just to elaborate a bit on what the walrus said. when a songwriter is credited, it's because they contributed to the basic structure of the song in question, being the chord progression and basic notation, lyrics, and melody. The guitar solo's are part of the arrangement of the song, but it's not included in songwriting credit. Someone may think or feel that the solo is a bigger part of the song as maybe they might feel about the piano part, but it's all based around the basic structure which Jon wrote by himself. If I'm not mistaken there are credits given for song arrangements in albums but I don't know how that is worked out in album points so Somebody else is gonna have to explain that.

This is all from what I understand about it, If I'm wrong in some aspect the please someone correct.
