If not THE highlight. I would MUCH rather hear that than LYHOM, but the casuals know LYHOM, so that's why he does it. Even though he helped write LYHOM, I'm sure that Richie would rather showcase his own songwriting abilities and the song he made himself.

couldn't agree more, his voice and guitar playing on that version is absolutely stunning

I was lucky to see Stranger live once. It probably wasn't quite as good as that performance from the Prudential, but I wouldn't trade the experience for anything!

I can't find good video of any of the solo songs right now, but hearing Richie do Stranger, Made In America, and Fallen From Graceland (along with acoustic IML) at the Stand Up To Cancer show back in '08 is an ultimate highlight for me.

I can't find those either. There were only a few videos - what a shame if they've been pulled.

EDIT - I found IML -

Richie did that in concert on the 2001 tour, I saw it many times. And everyone in the place got up and left when he started singing

My eldest son was playing a gig last night, and on the way home in the car (we wanted more music) that's exactly what we played. They played a blues set at the Crossroads and Richie was the perfect accompaniment on the way home.

I honestly doubt that. In a perfect world he probably would, but I honestly think he'd rather play something that doesn't result in mass exodus.

That's kinda what I meant, though. If nobody was allowed to leave their spot for the song, I'm sure he would rather do one of his own works than Lay Your Hands on Me. But as I said, LYHOM is known by the majority crowd, Stranger is only known by a small fraction of it.
