Ok, anyway will upload these songs making a volume II case. The mixture will not be as good as the first volume, since the sources do not have enough quality, but something can be improved.

According to the person who uploaded this, it was going to be part of a live cd & dvd. I'm sure many of you already know this. I'm looking forward to listening to this. I love The Joker. Tim McGraw did a cover of this at a concert I went to back in the late 90's.

Yep. If Jon and Richie weren't sick that night we might have averted This Left Feels Right.

It’s pretty cold for late September
And autumn wind is creepin’ in...

So much for only BJ "taking" from others This song is from 2013, so a rip-off of Whole Lot Of Leaving, not the other way round

I'll say it again....

Music is an evolution. It's a constant! Its someone building off someones sound and / or lyrics.

No one person created rock and roll. It evolved through time by mixing Country, R n B, Gospel, etc..... Elvis might have made it popular but he didn't create it.

There are only so many words, lyrics, and sounds to work with. You're going to find overlaps.

Agreed for the most part. And in addition: sometimes it just happens that you come up with a melody and think it's great, and you don't really realize that you just wrote down what you heard some time ago by someone else, even if you think about it. That's just life, it doesn't need to have been done on purpose...

If you write music, you know when you're ripping off entire songs. You'll know when you steal a lick here and there. You just do. The same goes for chord progressions, licks, or even guitar solo's. You know when you're borrowing things, but that's usually where it ends for most. You borrow and make it your own.

So one phrase or lick? Sure, it can happen. That's a coïncidence. But not complete verses sung in the same tempo with the same kind of arrangements, like the one It's my faith just pointed out. That's not borrowing, that's just copying something you liked. Claiming that such a thing is a coïncidence is the same thing like me writing a story called Snow White and the Six Dwarfs, and then saying I didn't rip that off from anyone either.

The funny thing is that usually the people who say it's "evolution" or a "coïncidence" are those who lack the creativity to either discover an overlap or write something original (whether good or bad) themselves.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I know what you mean, but still I have to disagree, at least partly. I think that in this case for example, it could very well be that she had Whole Lot Of Leaving stuck in the back of her head without even knowing, and thus coming up with the same chord progression and feel of it. It's happened to me before when writing, so I believe it's absolutely possible...

Not to say that the world is a good place though and nobody steals anything from anyone. Of course there are plenty of examples where it's done entirely on purpose, whether one likes it or not. BJ not excluded in any way...
