David I would assume. I have no reason to believe John played/wrote the synth to the song.

I don't know if I agree with that 100%.

I think that's what Jon looks for in a producer. Jon and Richie can produce their own albums but I think Jon has that extra musician / producer to help write the sheet music and create the sound.

A fair point but David had made it pretty clear that they don't really tell him what to play. I fully think David is involved in at least that process.
