Given his mixing up years, I'd stand by the album credits, subject matter, sound and feel over off-hand recollection.

Though I don't think it's something we'll be able to convince each other of without proper proof.
Another thing I wanted to touch on is the "Producer". Did Bob Rock really produce it? It's a Demo, it's unfinished... Did Bruce Fairbairn produce any of the NJ demos? or was it really Obie, the engineer? Bob was around both periods so it's difficult to say who produced an unfinished demo. It might be just a credited note as to who hit the record button. I really don't know the technical aspects of any of that stuff though.

The engineer would be the person who hits the buttons, typically.

If there was no producer for the recording, it would just say Engineered by...and either credited to the band as producer or not at all I guess. As to who produced the NJ Demos I don't have the booklet of the re-release in front of me, can anyone check?

I don't think it's difficult at all to say who produced this one, everything just links up to KTF regardless of Jon getting the year of origin wrong.

He seemed uncomfortable at some questions being asked. I liked that interview, though. I wish more interviews had questions like that.

I happen to have it in front of me, that's what it says:
"All tracks Disc 2 are previously unreleased.
Produced by Bruce Fairbairn.
Mixed 2014 by Obie O'Brien at Sanctuary Studios, Red Bank, NJ.
Engineers: Mike Rew, Matt Teacher
Except: "Diamond Ring" mixed 1988 by Bob Rock at Little Mountain Sound Studio Ltd."

Thanks!

I mean to me that says it all, if Bruce did all those demos I have zero reason to think the Drive as a b-side from 1997 is from 1988.

Very cool picture man. Just saw Let's Make it Baby and Diamond Ring on the list and now I remember Jon saying in an interview, probably in 94, that Diamond Ring finally made it on the album now that they re-wrote the bridge and that they also re-wrote it for KTF but it didn't make it for some reason I can't remember at the moment.

I also see some tracks that I've never heard of like All Wound Up and Skin Deep. Can someone please tell me if these tracks made it on the record with another title or something?

It's so frustrating hearing Jon mentioning songs that never surfaced anywhere and most likely never will. I'm sure that they wouldn't be commercial hits but i'm sure that they would be pretty great songs for us die hards.

Exactly! Obie said that nothing is left in the vault but I could make a list of song titles just as long as the Box Set we got in '04. There is just no money in those releases. Our best chance of getting these songs is when Jon goes 6ft under.

Wow, if Obie said there's no songs in the vault he's either lying or there was a pipe burst. There's so much more that was recorded that has to be sitting somewhere.

Yeah, even What About Now record there were at least 3 or 4 songs they recorded but did not enter the album and never came to light (Shine, Times Like These, State Of Our Union, Burn with me). I expected an unreleased box set in 2014, with these songs and others oldest. In the end, nothing is released, and continue to accumulate new songs for a lot of years more. I guess in 2024 we could hear. It's no fun waiting over a decade to hear some rarities, damn.
