I think Dominik is correct by saying that these guys put their own spin on this music and I admire them for it. In the end, in my opinion Jon is an excellent songwriter - he can really write some beautiful melodies. Unfortunately, these days he can't sing a lot of them so he doesn't. Why should we NOT want to hear those songs again if the original lead singer can't (or won't) sing them?

It's just that I can't. I need to have Jon's voice on them, I don't even like Richie singing BJ songs too much. I don't know how to perfectly say it in English, but I just need these penetrating high "eee"s that Jon does, I also don't like rasp too much, I prefer his cleaner voice from the 90s/2000s onward, and of course the tone and color of Jon's voice is quite unique.
