Let's put it like this: it strongly reminds me of my puberty and the vocal change caused by it.  Poor Jonny... he looks genuinely pissed off/disappointed after that part. You can't really see his facial expressions, but he's obviously not very happy. Pretty much every time he hangs his head down like that, he also gives himself the stink eye. See here:

The way he keeps hanging his head down during the choruses and the faces he keeps making throughout the song say everything you need to know. He's completely aware of the fact that he sounds like shit these days (pa-dum tssh!). He does care, and it shows. I'm pretty sure that not even Seb hates Jon's current voice as much as Jon himself does. |
I think that he stopped using the rasp because I think it's not really healthy for your vocals but I'm not sure. Also, Jon is definitely aware of his vocal problems these days ( no pun intended). If he wasn't, he'll be the biggest idiot of all time. He definitely hates his voice right now when he remembers what he was capable of from 1984 -1996.
