I cared, too. I was hoping you'd get it figured out before the definitive TAALS video shows up.
My only advice was going to be to give the speakers and/or the computer a good smack. When I worked at McDonald's (back in the dark ages), that's what we used to do when the registers acted up. It generally worked, too.
I'm glad you're back in business. (And your fix was probably a better idea than mine.)
