Ah well ... For some people Jon will never sing good enough anymore. No matter what they'll do.

I was at the Borgata and I think Jon sounded amazing. Yeah, so he didn't sing Radio like it was recorded, but that doesn't mean anything. I think that it is hard to compare his voice from the younger years to now. It is not only with him, it's with every performer(s) around, who has even come close to lasting 20 years. You think Def leppard or Sting or anyone would sound exactly the way they did 15 years ago? Of course not. It doesn't make him better or worse...

Age has little to do with it. I saw Def Leppard last year, and Joe sounds the same. He doesn't lower keys and he sings the songs in their original context.

I'm not saying that Richie should take lead vocals, but I am saying that Jon should pay more attention to his voice. It's not him getting older; it's his lack of working in his voice; keeping his voice intact; lack of practising etc. That it is in my opinion.

And I agree with Becky: why IBTFY and not the boxset song? Why not let Dave sing his as well etc. The show could and should have been really special, but it wasn't imo.

All the posts about Jon's vocal performance are entirely based on lowering/slowing down Radio Saved My Life and missing some notes on Prayer. People forget his voice was kicking ass on IML, Bad Med, Shout, Wanted, etc.. Compare Shout with the Alpine Valley webcast, that is a bad vocal performance. Jon was kicking ass IMO.

Age has little to do with it. I saw Def Leppard last year, and Joe sounds the same. He doesn't lower keys and he sings the songs in their original context.
Age only has to do with the fact that it has allowed more time for more shows and if a certain performer has knowingly or unknowingly gotten into bad habits with regards to maintaining his/her vocals, then more shows will gradually affect that. Who knows why Jon can't do it anymore, you can't necessarily blame him for it, just deal with it or stop whinging.

But yeah, I saw the Eagles last night and age hasn't affected them too much!! Almost 3 hours worth, plus I think I found how they keep it up so well- they each do lead vocals for different songs. Even Glenn sounded good with a bit of a cold.

actually Def Leppard tones down half a step during live performances aswell, just like BJ and most bands.

Well, he for SURE can't hit the high notes LOL.

I love his voice though.

UKjovi are you an educated singer and can judge that Jon's voice is better than Richie's? Your last sentence should be "I like Jon's voice better" and not "Jon's voice is better", exept of you are a professional and can judge it.

Stop busting on him. You know what he means. Obviously it is a matter of opinion.

Oh, and Jon's voice is better. :P
