Therefore although trying to be serious, it just didn't quite get there. Now, there are some songs that I love on These Days, but I think making an entire album of such songs was too much of a task.

you meant HARD ROCK, didn't you?

and yes, These Days is their best record. Some great hevay tunes, some of their bet ballads and good up-tempos. Also some amazing lyrics .
The guitar is here and there brilliant and the vocals are just the best vocals Jon has ever come up with on a record.

It might be just me but the guitarwork on that album isn't that amazing compared to previous albums, and though I have to agree about the vocals being powerfull, they aren't the strongest either. So why are they the best vocals then?

Salaam Aleikum,

I'm definitely not an expert on this - but I'd say that because Jon doesn't stick to the same things (let's face it he tends to always do the same vocally), and because you can see he's in control and he feels comfortable. He had many years's practice by then and he had also learnt to sing properly and he hadn't started smoking - or was only beginning to - and his voice was at its best. IMO of course

Damn near, but nothing beats KTF in my opinion! Perhaps my fave all time album.

im guessing you mean over rated here on this board?? coz it is easily one of the the most over looked and underated BJ albums by both the average fans AND the band.

JBJ - I believe

"Sambora's face is a mask of joyous disbelief, as if previously unaware of his ability to play the instrument at all. Reaching the last fistful of notes, he does a fair impression of a man who is actually ejaculating into his jet black flares."

Yup..These Days for me. As far as I'm concerned..it was very honest and reflective of the band as adults. Actually..all their albums had been at each point up to These Days. With each release..you could say it was their best. By now..These Days should have been surpassed.....but something broke along the way. Crush and Bounce do not take the creative output to the next level the way all prior albums had successively.

I'm not convinced yet that they can't get back on track....so there is always the hope that they will do the album that is a proper follow up to These Days (in the sense of all past albums being follow-ups...NOT sequels.)
