Following your dream all sounds very romantic but it's a stupid idea unless you're really talented on some creative level and know how to do business. The two rarely go hand in hand, hence so many artists getting screwed over in the music business.

You make a good point, Seb; and as an educator, I don't make a habit of encouraging anyone to drop out of school. But college isn't for everyone.

That being said, there's no guarantee that everyone who follows a dream, with or without a college degree, will be successful at it... but it's a lead-pipe cinch that those who don't won't.

Richie meant that were too many ways for him to make money as a musician to stay in college. Foster wasn't his only source of income -- he was also doing session work and solo gigs in bars. What screwed up everything for the entire scene was the drinking age going from 18 to 21 in 1984.

Before then, there were more than enough bars, clubs, and customers in New York City and New Jersey where unsigned musicians could earn a living without a record deal. The new drinking age hurt the Jersey Shore in particular: it became unprofitable for bars and clubs to hire original bands unless they had an 21-and-over fan base, could play lots of cover songs, or were willing to "pay for play." That's why Jon needed a guitarist in the first place -- the one Richie replaced left to join a cover band. He knew he had a better chance of making a living in one than in a totally unknown band like Jon's!

You've probably left it too late but who knows? Worth a shot, but don't be too disappointed as I'm sure he gets a hell of a lot of requests like this.
The location is at the top where it says "About". It's about 15 minutes away from Boston

So anyway, it seems like this is a lost cause.

Really? Snake Sabo left to join a cover band? Did they do Gary Moore covers?

I've now updated the page with photos and videos as well as made the location more noticeable. Better?

The next step is just trying to figure out a way for Jon to at least see it...

I am aware there is a 0.01% chance of this actually happening though.

Who did Richie replace? Didn't Sabo say in a fairly recent interview that he was only helping Jon out until he found a guitarist for the new band he was putting together? I recently saw where Jon stated in an earlier interview that Snake was never intended to be the guitarist for the band he put together to play for the record label. Did Jon hire someone else before he hired Richie? Or are you referring to one of Jon's earlier bands?

Sabo temporarily filled in for the guitarist who left to join a cover band; Richie replaced the guitarist.

Snake temporarily filled in for the guitarist who left to join a cover band -- and I don't hold it against him because he didn't make a totally dumb career move.

The odds were that the higher drinking age would make life a lot harder for bands with original music and a startup fan base: the guitarist very logically gambled against Bon Jovi getting very far, and lost. I believe Richie decided to hook up with Jon because what he would probably lose financially could pay off in growing his artistic merit. He gambled on what he could help turn Bon Jovi into -- and won.

Now, that's interesting. The only guitarists I'd ever heard in reference to Bon Jovi were Dave and Richie. Who was the other guy? (I assume it was a guy. Something tells me I would definitely read about it if it had been a female guitarist. LOL)

I don't know his name, and if I did, I wouldn't reveal it. Why? Well, let me put it this way -- If YOU were that guitarist, would YOU want anybody to know your name?
