And what was he supposed to do while Richie was singing? Smoking a cigarette was probably the best thing he could have done.
I don't see anything wrong here. A lot of rock stars do so.

Sweet merciful God. I'm a very optimistic man, but it's bs like this that makes me lose hope for humanity. Did you ever think Jon was turning his back because.. gee, I don't know, HIS BEST FRIEND IS IN THE SPOTLIGHT AND HE DIDN'T WANT TO INTRUDE???!!!! Back track over your bootlegs and official DVDs kids. Count the number of times Jon draws attention to Richie. It's a lot.

- Lay Your Hands on Me, Yokohama 1996, before solo kicks in fully - "Ladies and Gentlemen, Richie Sambora!"
- Wild is the Wind, San Jose 2001, before the intro "By the way, this is Richie Sambora over here"
- During one song in Wembley 95, he did the Wayne's World "We're not worthy" bow as Richie played.

There are a lot of others, not to mention the innumerable points and gestures when the solos kick in. Jon thinks the world of Richie. Anybody with an ounce of perception and functioning eyes can see that. They're best friends. They would've killed each other or split long before now if they weren't. Richie was playing one of his songs for the crowd, and in that shot I see someone trying to remain inconspicuous so his friend can have a well deserved turn in the spotlight. I'd have done the same. When Richie sang I'll Be There for You, a song he wrote, on the last tour I heard he left the stage altogether.

And he smoked during one song!!! Oh no, get him to the gallows! Freddie Mercury drank beer, wine and sometimes had smokes during shows. Did this mean he didn't care about his performance? Of course not. He gave a big chunk of his last days recording more material for us. And I heard nothing but insane cheering when he said "Queen would like to drink a special toast to you. Cheers!"

Tico smokes while drumming. Tell me how you can drum like he does and NOT look interested in what you're doing. Honestly. Tell me. You HAVE to be interested or you'll **** up. Slash smokes while playing. Tell me how you can say if he looks interested or not? Do you have x-ray powers to see through the shades and the curtain of hair? I've seen plenty of musicians drink or smoke on stage, and then go on to do another hour or more of playing. What, they're not allowed to have a little pleasure as they work so hard to entertain you? They're not superhuman you **** retards. A bass player in my Dad's band drank so much beer during shows I'm amazed he didn't pass out, and smoked, but he never stopped playing and never gave shows less than everything he had.

And poopy face? What are you, five? I can't make **** out on that photo. It looks like someone sneezed on the lense. How do you how what his expression is?

Jon's loaded kids. He doesn't need more money. If he was the money fiend some of you sometimes make him out to be, he wouldn't take such long breaks from music. He does it cause he loves it. They all do.

And anyone who says words like "but I read in an interview" in retaliation to this post will be summarily mocked. If you believe anything you read in the media you are a moron.

Frankly, I'm amazed Jon hasn't pulled a Jay and Silent Bob and hunted some of you guys down and kicked your asses. Hell, I'd pay good money to see it. You guys ***** and moan and complain like spoiled children and act like your opinion is the be all and end all, and yet... the records keep selling, and the shows keep packing them in. You guys are the only morons bitching and everyone else (and no, critics don't count, sorry. They were slagging them off in their prime too) keeps saying what great performers they all are. Doesn't this all tell you something?

Of course you're allowed to express negative views. But I never cease to be amazed at the way some of you react when someone disagrees with you. Newsflash kids - your opinions is not the be and end all. We've got just as much right to disagree as you do to open your trap and take baseless, childish shots like this. Disliking some of their latest music I can understand. But this accusation is just **** daft.

And to the **** who took yet another shot at Jon for his voice problems, did you ever stop and think about how he feels about it? It's not his fault. It's going because he's given us 20 years of great music and shows. 20 YEARS. Shut the **** up and lay off him.
You've got too much time on your hands please shut up. Thank you, the world will be a better place now.

Man, you should win the Jovitalk Award for "Cockiest Jovitalker." You gotta lot of spunk. The guy was trying to make a point. Not a bad one at that. The only problem I saw was that he thinks that he is the only one right. Other than that, his points are, in my opinion right on.

Let's see. I've been using this site as a Jovi news source for... two years or more. Let's compare how much time I have on my hands vs you.

Thierry's Post Count - 3457
My Post Count - 2

Yeah, whatever you say chuckles. I don't know why I'm bothering with the guy who thinks that for TLFR they turned every song into a ballad (you do know the meaning of the word is not "any song with a slow tempo and/or no solo in it" right?), but eh, I'm in the mood. How about answering some of my points instead of sticking your head in the sand with an abortion of a flame even a child could see is completely groundless and stupid?

I'm high and mighty??? AHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! ****, have you read some of the drek in this forum? Have you read the first post in this thread? I've got no problem with most of the people on the forum, but there's a dozen or so, Captain Can't-Do-Math here including, who pass judgement on Jon based on media comments and interviews, and anal retentive analysis of his every action. I've held my tongue countless times as I read a bit of information someone was kind enough to post that some jackass twisted and used to take another snipe at Jon or the band in general, but this post was just... surreal. Honest to God, what the hell did the guy ever do to you warrant this kind of abuse? Why do you rag on him so much?

Thanks for the backup. No, I don't think I'm right. Unlike some of these guys, I'm not that arrogant, just extremely aggressive and bad tempered, especially when someone I respect and admire is the victim of such ridiculous allegations. There is a difference

Jon could be a closet Satanist for all we know Stick to facts guys. From my perspective, this what they are - I feel like I could buy 100 of each album and never feel like I've paid Jon and the boys enough for all the bad times their music has made good. There are some things in life you cannot repay with money... or indeed anything at all. The way I feel I get when I listen to one of the band's many wonderful uplifting songs - be it the Distance or Saturday Night, Sleep When I'm Dead or It's My Life - is one of them. How could a money hungry arrogant asshole who doesn't care about his fans create and perform songs like that with such passion, songs that can make me feel like the war that life often is, is worth fighting? It doesn't fit to me. This is not conclusive proof, of course. Like I said, I don't know him. He could be the asshole some people make him out to be, but they don't know him either.

Look at the way Richie is holding his arm in that shot. He could just as easily be waving away the crowd away while saying "We're exhausted. **** off and go home." I wouldn't put it past someone in the entertainment media to attach a caption like that to that pic. I've seen things like it happen, and worse. Most of the magazine buying public wants dirt on stars, so far too many reporters will twist and distort things to make them look bad. I don't trust them anymore and I never will. I don't believe it unless I hear it from the star's mouth.

So, my challenge to the Jon Haters is simple. Where is your proof? These photos are NOT proof. One interpretation is just as valid as the other. As I pointed out, Jon often draws attention to Richie when it's his time to shine, and I based my conclusion on this evidence. BJEveryday, who was there, and others, agree. What evidence do they have for their conclusion? None I can see. Feel free to correct me, I will listen.

Jon Bon Jovi is a human being, and based on what little I know of him and what his life's work has done for me, I think a pretty damned good one. I sincerely hope that someday, somehow I'll get the chance to shake his hand, buy him a beer and say thanks. But shy of a meeting in that great bar in the sky, that's obviously not gonna happen.

He's human, and humans have failings. We've all done bad and stupid things. Some of us regret them, some don't. Don't let the failings make you lose sight of the big picture, of the real person. He's been doing this for most of his life. You'd be pretty damned exhausted after doing 2 - 3 hour shows every night too. You can't expect him to give 100% all the time, sign every autograph, talk to every person without sounding distracted or half-hearted, not talk to every interviewer in a manner that clearly suggests he wished they'd **** off so he could have a smoke and a little peace.

Two things he said during the 1989 Milton Keynes concert I thought were pretty arrogant, but it's something I've yet to see repeated in fifteen years, every official concert releases, half a dozen bootleg videos and 1.73GB of bootleg MP3s. Big deal. The band had massive success. Most people would've gotten a hell of a lot more big headed than he did. It doesn't diminish what he's done.

Jon acted weirdly for the most part of the European Tour. I read reviews fo weird thigns during that tour For instance in the Madrid concert he allegedly was allergic to pollen so they had to shorten the setlist and what he sang sounded awful (I'm just going by what people said, unfortunately I wasn't there myself ). However, ill tongues have it that it wasn't allergy but drugs. I really couldn't say, but I wonder what was wrong with him during that tour.

At any rate I do have to say that I don't see smoking a cig while on stage as such a terrible thing. Not like him, but not that bad either. As for the first pic, for all we know he could have been walking to get some water or anything, couldn't he?
