I think Jon is an inspiration beyond words, I love him to bits, and just think he is an amazing man. I have watched this board try to shred him to pieces for petty things, but at the end of the day these people need to stop LOOKING for a reason not to like him or make him look bad.....the man is simply great and good and given how much he has he is so very humble. I do not give a turd what anyone says about this, because I know that the man we heard speaking is the man behind that lyric and the largest part of the influence in each song by a mile, and it pleases me so much to know that. just love him love him love him. Nothing to fault, nothing at all

Marry me?

PS: Don't tell Matt.

Thanks for the link Sergey!

Really enjoyed it, a nice mix of "CEO" and rock star, some of the projects he works on really are impressive. The kitchen in particular is such a great concept.

All in all he's just a bit bloody cool really!

Great stuff. Loved it. And nobody's bashing Jon this time? Seb must be on holiday.

Although I gotta say I really laughed when Jon said We Weren't Born To Follow became an "international timeless classic". Other than that, even though it only clocks at 41 minutes, it was miles better IMO than the WWWB documentary.

Good interview, I'm glad he talked about Alec, I can't ever remember him bringing that issue up in an interview.

But really, we give Jon flac because he sometimes deserves it. Yes everyone is human, but without people to criticize what the stupid things he sometimes does or says then he would have even more of an excuse to be lazy.

agreed and fair point...........but criticism is rarely needed with Jon in the genuine sense of the word and he is a great man, that as a fan you should be very proud of as you have a lot to boast about when you are one - as far as what Jon represents as a person.

I think the saddest thing for me was his recognition that through no fault of their own, they cannot get out of the the hair branded rock group label, that lifted them in the first place. They were so much more than their peers and have now grown so much, but they cannot get the world to realise it, even though they are still massive.

I dont know I think the last few tours has seen a change of opinion. Ok the music will never be recognised in the same way as some of the artists Jon aspires to be and we all know why, but I really dont think they are viewed as a hair band anymore, they are now known in the press and among music fans as a one of the best live acts, capable of drawing huge crowds. They will always have that label attached to them in terms of their history because thats the era they made it big from and that style was a fundamental part of their success but their staying power and ability to sell out stadiums, for me at least, is what they are associated with now.

They were biggest in the 80s. Slippery and Jersey were huge. They went with the big hair/makeup fads and of course they will be remembered that way. Plus, I think they were one of the best, if not the best hair band, but they were still a hair band. Their songwriting and production was very similar to every other big, hair band hit those years, maybe slightly better.

I don't think it was until their first solo albums that they became something different... something better than a hair band. And of course in the early-mid 90s they proved to us they were miles better than their competition and capable of growth. But unfortunately they haven't been a poster child for a cultural look since the 80s.

I think this is an excellent documentary! I love Jon's positive and honest approach. And as I adore their 80s, I really loved what he said about Alec. And it kinda fits into my theory how it really was (it's somehere here on jovitalk). A honorable mention to Hugh would make it perfect

I agree, was really nice to hear him speak about Alec this way, compared to the way it was presented in the VH1 Behind the music where it was just implied Alec made a load of mistakes suddenly and so was kicked out with little remorse shown.
I understand the Hugh situation more now and am actually glad Hugh wasn't made ''official'' and Alec was never 'replaced' as such (boom boom tish). And its true, Alec has never written a tell all book about the inner workings of The Band, or spoken to the media etc for a quick buck.
