He gave her the check and thanked her for showing the human side of the suffering. It was in Oprah's hands to decide whether or not to reveal the amount, which she did. She said no one had ever given that much to her fund before. The whole theme of the show was about giving, and helping other people. It wasn't a "look at JBJ, ain't he great!" theme. The theme was to see how happy it makes these people who receive and, more importantly, how happy it makes a person to give, therefore, try it yourself. You don't have to be a celebrity with a big bank account to have a big heart.

No, we don't hear most of what Jon does. You could tell he was a regular at that children's home. He knew the kids by name and they knew him. So it's not just about writing checks. He's out there visiting and doing something, just like the person who's handing out bottles of water on the coast. Most of the things we hear about with him come from different sources, not his own mouth or his own people.

What are you people who are bitching about Jon doing? Sitting at your computer not exactly making a difference in anyone's life.

And how do you like being judged so boldly for what you're doing or not doing?

Becky

They're doing nothing.

But don't say they sound cool bitching all the time?

It's got nothing to do with it at all. It still doesn't really answer the question why Jon always does charity things when there's an album coming out from him or the band. Why does he then suddenly looks for publicity? And don't tell me he doesn't because it's obvious that he did that, or he would've left it out of the Oprah show.

And just because you asked: Yes I give money to charity. Jon's not exceptional, and I've said this many times, if I would have as much money as Jon or any other celebrity, I would donate a million dollar each year if I could. When comparing things, my or I guess any other persons $1,- per month is still more money compared to Jon giving ? million dollar this entire year.

Sebastiaan

What you don't seem to realize is that Jon does charity things all the time. It's not just when there's a new album coming out. Just because you hear about it now doesn't mean they're not always doing it. Like I said, most of the stuff that makes it to the public doesn't come from their own press. Giving is Oprah's thing. That aspect of Jon and the band fit into her show, so that's what she's going to focus on.

And if you're going to be so down on Jon about giving to charity, why aren't you down on the other guys? They were giving too. And Richie "bragged" about it on the radio. And he told about his daughter running a lemonaide stand to raise money. Does that make him an asshole too? Or does it make him someone who's trying to inspire others to do something?

And, by the way, just your saying that if you gave $1 a month is more than Jon giving 1 million dollars is you doing EXACTLY what you're complaining about Jon doing. "Look at me... I'm not rich but I can give $1 a month. I'm more generous than the rock star!"

That's complete nonsense. He does things for charity all the time. Only difference is, when an album is coming out, the publicity will be more so evident. Not to mention, he brings things to light more so at that time.

Interesting - You give money to charity, which would lead one to believe you're an OK Joe who's kind to people he doesn't know. Yet, on this website, you treat people like they're all beneath you.

Exactly. And why does he bring it to light more now? Because there's a new album out, and he uses the publicity for the new album. Do you really think he would he have donated 1 Million dollar, and showed up with it at Oprah or whatever if there was no news from the Bon Jovi front? No.

And what exactly does that have to do with anything? I don't treat people who are beneath me, it's just that as soon as they talk shit I tell them why. As soon as they end up in the bash Seb way, we all know who's right or wrong. The one who can't defent himself but wants to be right anyway, finds other ways to win a discussion; by bashing the one who tells him he's wrong. And that's what it boils down to each time.

I don't know Seb....Maybe he would, maybe he wouldn't. Who the hell are you to judge him for his reasons? And do you really think him donating money on national TV is going to increase his chances of selling more CD's or selling more concert tickets?

That's your problem Seb. Who are you to say people are talking shit? Granted there are some on here that argue with you because you always have something negative to say, and they don't like that. In return, their arguements are somewhat silly and childish. However, some (like myself) personally think you talk alot of shit. No doubt, you know a great deal and many things, you are correct about. Unfortunately, you don't know, have never, and most likely never will understand that music and the appreciation of music, is all personal opinion, and not one "talking shit" because theirs differs from yours. That's where you, "talk shit".

and probaby Oprah came with the Blue Helmets to get Jon out of his house and to appear in her show. And what a timing Oprah and the UN forces have...WOW...exactly the same week as the new BJ album is launched. Ain't that just bad luck?

And what are you doing 'I'm not here to judge you Jon!I'm just hear to love you!' Becky??? Just the same only in the different direction...

Oh, and please, leave the pathetic 'how would you like' shit to kindergarden kids. People judge, that'S natural. Of course, other people just, forget it!

Yes. That's how it works. Jon's nice, people will see HAND, think of the nice Jon who donates money and then buy the album, because overall, Jon was such a nice guy. That's just the way it works.

I only talk shit when I do it on purpose. However, I've never bashed someone for his opinion, as long as it's an opinion with valid arguments. For example; Saying you like It's My Life because it's such a great rock song is rubbish, because it isn't. Just like saying that the band is back better than ever (not a dig at you personally, Krycek, but in general). How many times we read such things here as soon as something new is released? Exactly. Each time a new album is released there are always the same people who love it all (And claim not to love everything - oh well).

That's when someone talks shit. And no, rock music isn't a personal opinion.

Sebastiaan

I absolutely agree with you on the first sentence.

I absolutely think you are completely wrong on the second sentence.
