Default Overview of Player mag article.

I'd type it all out but it's way long, so here are the highlights from it: First of all the cover photo is way better than it scans, it's a hot photo.
He loves being able to combine two passions his love of football and pushing himself to new heights.
He's worth over $200 million, has the estate in Jersey, the new house in the Hamptons which he had to be reminded about and an apartment in NYC he uses as the offices for BJE, he never stays there.
He called the writer of this article to do the follow-up questions on his birthday because he was heading to LA the next morning and figured it was the only free time he had. Richie was in town and apparently he and Dorothea and the kids started the birthday party without Jon. He was Ok with it apparently.
He says that he's heard it all when it comes to what people say about him and the band "Some people just don't like me or our music. Some do. At this point I know I can't please everybody, either you like us or hate us, I don't care,"
According to this writer, the positive comments written about Jon are true.
He's likable, straightforward and funny.

He's driving a BMW735Li these days.
The writer says he doesn't really need the photoshoot makeup, and Jon jokes that he's really Dorien Gray and that the painting is locked in his attic.
Here's the quote about playing live " When you're in the zone and the lights go out and you're running up the ramp and the fans are hysterical you could knock cars over."
Quote from Soul president Ron Jaworski; " A rock star as an owner, HUH? But ten minutes into our first meeting I knew he was the guy. He's magnificent, he's bright a very solid business guy and has great intuition."
He likes parlaying his place in the celebrity world as a way to play robin Hood.
He admits that the band spent alot of years drinking any booze of any color or no color at all and living the vampire lifestyle. He still drinks and smokes, says he's no saint , he's far from perfect and has never claimed to be, but 16 years of marriage which he says is the best deal he's ever made, and four kids have mellowed him.
Here's the part y'all won't like this years tour will include 50 to 75 shows. Now remember this is what was said before Crush so if the record does well expect some more. Plus, that's this calender year, nothing said about the New year.
he'd like to act more but hates the whole Hollywood scene and says hes not willing to sacrifice the life he has in jersey to further his film career.
Despite what music or movie critics might say there is no arguing his ambition, his decisions and his success. Plus unlike countless other rockers, he hasn't blown his fortune instead he's turned it into more riches.
Quotes: I tell people not to judge a book by it's cover. When someone doubts me or percieves me as inexperienced in business i feel like this is going to be good. C'mon over here and sit down next to me."
" The core of my being is that I ve been driven since I was a young kid. That's the Picses in me. the race or the journey is always more of a challenge and more interesting than the goal. Getting there is the fun part."
This about does it I left out the football stuff because most of you here don't care about it. In it's entirety, this is a good article a good overview of where jon is in his life now.

thanks for this ... I won't comment too much .. this mag is not for bon jovi fans but for men with money or pretending they have having interests in money and ppl who have a lot ... and JBJ here , like his show on donny deutsch , is doing his perfomance to introduce his personna to a world of ppl who disliked him until now (business men or business men wannabee) .. no talk about music but about how wild he was (LOL very manly isn'it ) how rich he is ... and so on

I don't think the reference to the 50/75 shows is to consider as 100% reliable (I don't say it's false neither I just say why on earth would this mag know about the coming tour ? because Jon talked about it .. yeah he did .. but Jon doesn't always talk the reality but he talks his reality at this time when he did the interview ... )

I don't think they will do a 75 shows tour until the end of 2005 I could bet on this ...

Mimi, actually it was a very good article about Jon. It shows a bit about where he is in his life now and how he sees things. Jon did not announce his net worth , he was asked and his quote was" over a couple hundred" the writer put in parentheses if you have to ask this is 200 million. C'mon you know that Jon doesn't brag about this kind of stuff.
As for the tour this was what Jon had to say about it in March, who knows how long or short it will be now that the schedule has been changed, which is why I said that this was not set in stone.
As for Jon talking about the past he's been pretty consistent over the years about how they used to live vs how they live now.
he did talk about music; He was going to LA to work on the record- since finished; he still gets a thrill out of playing live, but admits that somedays it's hard for him to gethimself "up" for it.
All in all I just wanted you folks on the other side of the pond to see waht the article was about. There was nothing earthshattering in it, no big secrets or anything. The photographer however, took some amazing photos, there is one of Jon walkig across the tarmac from his plane all alone, it's not an incredible shot of JBJ but a very very cool pic very artistic. I'd like a copy of this one.

Thanks for the summary. I haven't been able to find the magazine around here. It sounds like a good article.

OK. I have some free time today so I'm typing out the whole article. Enjoy. The title is Sky's the limit.
Jon Bon Jovi continues to make millions as a rock star, but his latest project, co-owning a sports franchise, allows him to combine two passions; football and pushing himself to new heights.
Jon Bon Jovi is one of the biggest names in rock and roll music. He's worth over "a couple hundred". (If you have to ask, this is $200 million). His band has sold more than 100 million albums, played over 2500 concerts worldwide, and he's currently recording a new album, planning a fall tour, and making a little more dough( albeit a much smaller chunk) on the Philadelphia Soul, the Arena League football team he co-owns.
So what in the hell is he doing calling a writer to answer follow-up questions on, of all days his birthday? How many people, never mind someone as powerful and just damn busy, would even think of such a thing? " Well, I'm heading to LA in the morning to work on our next album, and I figured this might be the only free time I have. It's OK. Richie and my wife and kids are starting without me."
But that's Bon Jovi. Say what you want about him and his band. He's already heard it all- "Some people just don't like me or our music. Others do. You can't please everybody. At this point I figure you either like us or hate us, that's your business. I don't care." But after spending a couple afternoons with him, you realize that the more positive descriptions written about him appear to be true. He's likeable, straightforward and funny. (samples: "Ilike to say I'm richer than one of the Olson twins but not as big as both of them" Photographers lie, man. The'll say One more, OK just one more. This is the last one, the LAST one. Promise just one more."
He's also a grounded guy, someone who's been commited to the same woman, same state, same band, and same football team since he was a teenager. Those are some serious, Redwood deep roots. He's a dedicated man, definitely, but his first love wasn't for a girl or guitar, it was for his beloved G-men. Even he couldn't have guessed that one day he'd play in Giants stadium, thrilling tens of thousands of fans, not on the field but from the stage.
If JBJ has seen a million faces and rocked them all, then he's done nearly as many photoshoots and interviews. When he arrives on a Sat. afternoon at Jesrsey's Teterboro Airport, where First Aviation Services Hangar and NetJets- BJ has a stake in the company- have arranged for him to be photographed on a 20 million dollar GulfstreamIV-SP, and where actor Chris Tucker was seen minutes earlier, Bj enters with Zero fanfare.
" You're not going to see me with the blig-bling and the entourage", "**** no. That never was who I am and I don't understand it."
That said, he does live ina 19,000 square foot French Chateau style riverfront house in Middletown NJ. His estate covers 16 acres and includes a guest house ( occupied for awhile now by youngest brother Matt) loft building, apub, and a recording studio. But it's the only house he owns- oh wait he forgot about the place in the Hamptons he bought last year that is being remodeled' . He also owns but never stays in the gorgeous Manhattan apartment that serves exclusively as the office for BJM which he runs with the help of just three fulltime staffers. ( I think the writer made a mistake here. I believe he's refering to BJE the co.started to handle the football stuff not BJM which handles all the band stuff)
. As JBJ sits down for makeup- he's wearing a stylish striped shirt, untucked, has just removed the hip, oversized shades and jeans. A limo had been booked to bring him over, but JBJ chose to drive himself, in his BMW735Li. He doesn't really need it; Jon's a youthful, fit 43 (I'm actually Dorien Gray. The painting is locked up in my attic<" he jokes- he perks up when football becomes the first topic.
"I'm a die-hard Giants fan. We'd go to games as a family, my uncle had the tickets, and football was the bonding thread in our house. " he says although the musicians own Pop Warner career was shortlived. " Iwas a linebacker and then a bench warmer. I was slow and not vey good."
In the early eighties JBJ met Giants punter Sean Landetta in a bar and the two started chatting. When landeta discovered what a huge Giants fan BJ was, he arranged for the singer to attend a practice, even though Coach parcells practices were closed to the media and the public.
" the first day i showed up, Parcells yelled at me, " BJ remembers. "He knew exactly who i was but he treated me like a kicker>' BJ laughs at the memory. But he was nice enough to let me hang around and meet the guys. I mantained a relationship so much that i was allowed to be on the sidelines during NFC championship games and Superbowls. I mean, I was out on the field, jumping around celebrating with the guys when Norwood missed the kick and the Giants won the Superbowl. So, i've had ridiculous access to things that the average Joe just doesn't get."
After the giants dynasty disbanded, he stayed in touch with Parcells, while becoming close friends with then assistant coach Bill Belichick. While BJ has visited Belichicks training camps at the Coaches various stops( for those of you who don't follow football, Belichick is the head coach of the current Superbowl champion New England Patriots) Belichick has likewise attended BJ concerts, uses BJ music for loudness drills and once went on the road for a European tour.
" Ilove that they're both just guys, and that they are'nt media darlings. They don't care about any of that. They care about getting the job done. I like how they run their teams, their no-nonsense approach. When it's time to be on the field, it's all business, and when they're off the field they can talk about anything other than football. They're both very bright guys. They were intrigued by what I did for a living so there was mutual respect."
After music made him a wealthy man, BJ flirted with the idea of buying and co-owning an NFL franchise.
" I had a conversation with Tom Cruise, many years ago, I didn't know him from Adam, mind you, but we were at this dinner once, and at that time 1992, the Cleveland Browns were up for sale. We were joking saying You know, if we pooled our money, we could buy the Browns." He chuckles at this wishful thought. "Of course, neither of us really had enough money to buy them but man, we could have made a killing, man a killing."
Bon jovi may never wind up owning a piece of an NFL franchise- even though he's been tied to the league for years- kickoff shows, halftime shows and Superbowl appearances- because he's not sure it makes sound business sense for him.
The Minnesota Vikings are currently up for sale- asking price , 600 million. A potential owner must put down 30%. Bon Jovi mimics doing the math and concludes after what would be left of his empire that "I'd be sleeping under the seats at the stadium".
That's why two years ago he turned to a more logical opportunity An arena league franchise. " A sports marketing buddy of mine had told me about it and I had heard of the AFL, but had no real interest, hadn't seen any games. But I had told him how I went into Mourning after the Superbowl. I'm one of those guys that wanders ainmlessly through the house on the weekend between the Championship games and the Superbowl going What do i do ??? Then you watch the Probowl and you are just sick because you know it's 9 more months until football season again."
So after hearing his buddy's initial quote of $400,000' BJ said he and the band figured" Four hundred grand?? Oh man this is gonna be easy. Plus we wanted our own team so we could sit around and watch football and smoke cigars. We thought it would be fun."
But as feelers were put out JBJ realized that the price was about "40 times that", or 16 million. The other band members backed out but JBJ saw the potential of the league. Already being a savvy entrepreneur, JBJ fired his bands management 14 years ago and started his own co. to handle the band, Bon Jovi realized he needed a partner and the league introduced him to Craig Spencer, a Philadelphia real estate developer. The two ponied up 8 million each and the franchise was born in 2003.
Bo Jovi was hands on right from the start. He chose the team name, picked the team colors (slate blue and graphite gray that he'd seen on an old Porsche) and even created the team mascot, the Soul man, based on Belushies movie character. The Souls first season was a resounding success: the team made a small profit, led the league in attendance, and was the league leader in sponsorship money and merchandise sold.
Says Soul president Ron Jaworski, " He's a magnificent guy. When we met two years ago, I thought , OK a rock star as an owner, HUH? But within ten minutes of our first meeting I knew this was the right guy. He's bright, he' solid, a good business guy and he has great intuition."
This seson, despite alosing record, which led to BJ firing head coach Mike Trigg, the Soul continues to draw nearly 17,000 fans to each home game. Bon jovi is also giving plenty back to the Philadelphia community, helping to build a playground for a foster home, getting at-risk youth internships, funding a teen crisis hot-line,and calling on his famous and wealthy friends, such as Elton john, to match his donation to aid domestically abused women and children. "I like to keep parlaying my place in the celebrity world as a way to play Robin Hood."
Once upon a time thogh, Bon jovi was a hard drinking, cowboy rocking across America and partying around the world. He shakes his head as he recalls the years of living out of suitcases and the vampire sleep schedule. "UP til 4 or 5 in the morning, sleep till noon get up and do it all over again seven nights a week." The lyric from the anthem Wanted; Sometimes you tell the day by the bottle that you drink, was no lie: For us it was a bottle of whatever, red white or clear, we didn't care, it was a wild lifestyle."
Bon Jovi still drinks and smokes( I'm no saint and I'm not perfect, and i 've never pretended to be) and women still throw themselves and articles of clothing (usually underwear) at him during shows, but he's mellowed. Marriage ( that's the best deal I've ever made) and four kids will do that to you.
The band continues to draw huge crowds at big venues but this years tour will include 50 to 75 dates; not the 250 plus gigs the band delivered during the " deliriously insane" mid-eighties and early nineties.
For Bon Jovi, playing live is still a rush even after 20 plus years. " when you are in the zone and the lights go out and you are running up the ramp and the fans are hysterical, oh man you could carry cars. And i dare anyone to get off a stage after two and a half hours and thousands of people cheering and just go lay down and go to sleep. You need time to wind down. But at 43, Bj says sometimes he feels like Jerry Rice " can i do it one more time? Can I get myself up for it one moretime?"
Like his idol, Frank Sinatra, Jon Bon Jovi has been up and down, done it his way, and has too few regets to even mention them.
He'd like to do more acting, but he "hates " the whole Hollywood scene and calls many of the pricipal players there "shallow". " I've been told that if i want to further my movie career I need to be in LA. But i'm not willing to sacrifice the life I have for that."
Despite what music or movie critics might say, there is no arguing his ambition, his decisions, and his success. Plus unlike countless other rockers, he hasn't blown his fortune; instead he's turned it into more riches. He's no dummy and you would be a fool to think otherwise.
" i tell people not to judge a book by it's cover. when someone doubts me or looks at me as someone they percieve to be inexperienced in business I feel like , OK this is going to be good. Come on over here and sit down next to me."
"The core of my being is that I've been driven since I was a young kid. That's the Pisces in me. The race or the journey is always more of a challenge and more interesting than the goal. It's like getting to the 1 yard line. OK so then you score, But getting there was all the fun stuff.
OK y'all this is it . Hope you enjoy it.
