Default Phil X on... Greatest Hits?

Hm, going to a Phil X and the Drills gig tonight that's been organised by a few of my mates, so I figured I should find out a bit more about the dude before meeting him. I came across earlier where he says he played on 'the last bon jovi record' - which I'm assuming means the Greatest Hits since the circle (iirc) has a full personnel list whereas the GH just says Jon, Richie, Dave and Tico. Would be interesting to know what he actually contributed then

Whenever I've seen him interviewed he seemed full of shit so I wouldn't read too much into it.

For as much flack as we gave Richie over the past few tours, I've never been less into a show than the one where Phil X filled in for him. Sorry Jon, love ya man, but no Richie = no Bon Jovi.

If he would have replaced Richie in Europe I would have stayed at home even though I would have lost a lot of money.

Haha you guys are all full of crap. If you had tickets and didn't sell them, you would've went regardless.

tbh, while I wouldn't buy a ticket to see jovi without Richie at those prices you'd be a fool to sell them and miss out... the dude's awesome. His shows are more like a jam session than a proper 'show' but he's a ****ing killer guitarist and a great singer to boot. Can't think of anyone who'd be better for the richie role, other than richie of course, by a long way, but if it's Phil X or nothing... I'd go.

I saw two shows with Phil X and they were both great shows. There was a new energy in the mix thanks to him and I only missed Richie in so much that he's Richie. The music didn't suffer one bit.

I would have loved to see a show with Phil X as big a Richie fanboy I am. And the point about energy is spot on. There was some new tension in the band, you could see it on Tico and David as well, the way they were focussed to make sure they catch Phil X.

However, musically I would disagree. Specifically the longer solos suffered quite a bit. I don't think he did a single decent Dry County solo. And Wanted Dead or Alive was simply not the same either. Still...would've loved to see him with the band.
