hi!

would you consider the 'powerstation years' as a bootleg cd or a more or less official album? if it is a bootleg, how did people get their hands on this material???

Some relative of Jon's, his cousin or something, put the recordings together, so it isn't really a bootleg. At least I think it was like that, somebody help me out here?

If it's a bootleg, it's a question of luck or if you know "the good people" or not ...

HE Walrus,

you were almost right.

The songs were recorded in the powerstation studio, which was owned by Jon's cousin. He (jon's cousin) collected the songs and put them on an album.
He released this album.
It's not an official Bon Jovi album, but not a bootleg either.

Linda

It circulated as a bootleg long before it was ever released. I got the songs in 1992, so I'm sure they were out long before that. It was legally released, but was not approved by Jon.

There are several bootlegs with these recordings out that came out long before the official album published by the powerstation studios who got the rights on these recordings.

So both answers are correct. There are bootlegs but also official ones. It's right, Jon didn't want them to be published but since the rights on these recordings are at the powerstation studios he couldn't do anything against it and even lost a trial. This doesn't make the album a bootleg. It is published by the one who is allowed to do it.
