I talked about this with Iceman and said if he'd come over we should record stuff together. Last week he did came over to Holland for a business trip and had 2 days off. I invited him to my house and we did a little jamming and recorded some songs. It was a lot of fun, I took him through Rotterdam for a cultural trip, had icecream together (was cold though, brrr) and it was just like we were best buddies (sorry Thierry).

I invited him over to my house and we did some jamming together. There's some awful songs we did I won't share but here's the first proper recording we did. When We Were Beautiful.

This proves that we can do better because it sounds better than the Bon Jovi version. It also proves the theory that a lot of stufff Jon and Richie wrote for The Circle might be good songs, just produced in a terrible way. Anyway, without further redue;

http://www.bonjovi-live.com/wwwb.mp3
Supersonic: Lead vocals and chords
Iceman: Backing vocals and lead guitar

Done in 2 takes. The vocals were recorded in one take. Take that Jon Bon.

More to come. Jack (Ferret) will come over soon and we might record some stuff as well.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Decent enough cover. Not sure whether you are being ironic though in the title?

I never said they are bad. In fact I said it is very good….but for a performance by amateurs. I also think there are few things that you can like in it although I could point out more that I personally don’t like at all. Of course their version misses drums and keyboards in the first place, that’s why it can’t be compared to the original. I can hear that they had lots of fun doing it and that’s great. That’s what music should be all about. It’s also good that they hanged out together, trying to make a song on their own so it would sound they way they will finally enjoy it. And technicaly the song is good.

The thing is the subject of this thread suggests me that Seb (and probably Iceman too) really thinks that he can do better than BJ or what’s even worse that he already is better than BJ. And Ang1e has pointed something I also wanted to say. To compare yourself with such a legend and try to prove that you are better, you should give us something you have written on your own. Not a cover. Everybody can make a cover, better or worse. Maybe there was a thread over here before where Seb presented some of his own stuff, was it? I’d be glad to hear it. But even if there was, and even if it was good, still he would have to write songs for at least 10 albums (so roughly about 120 songs) so we could say who is better.

I understand your point, really. I repeat – their version is good. But I think that’s Seb’s intention is really to prove us that he really is better than BJ. If the subject is ironic, that’s fine. But if Seb’s serious than he is very self-righteous in my opinion. Seb, please correct me if I interpret this wrong.

Yes, you're wrong. I'm not self-righteous and this is better than Bon Jovi's version. Just compare it to Jon and Richie's acoustic version. They did it on the spot there in that TV show, just like what we did in my living room. Yet we nailed it and they didn't.

Me and Iceman aren't out of key, yet Jon is. We didn't wear sunglasses either, by the way.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Lol,

y'think he's ever going to admit he's not better?

But Seb, really, no sunglasses?

Can't be a rock star without that quintessential accessory.

You aren't entirely in key either... But it's not bad. It has more power than their acoustic version.

It has more power than their electric version as well. Tico's "powerful" drums don't make the song powerful, they just add more drum sounds, that's all really. Our acoustic version gives a much better feel of the song and therefore is much more powerful.

Dude I'm never out of key, if you think I am I can do nothing but feel sorry for you as you're obviously not able to talk about being either in or out of key. The people that are saying we're not better just have to ask themselves the following;

When Bon Jovi would do an intimate show, would you rather hear the full electric version or would you rather hear them do this version? Exactly. We rock and Bon Jovi ****ed up their own song. It therefore isn't the question if we should post our song, the question is could Bon Jovi cover a song of us and improve it?

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan
