Question about Blood on Blood

Just being curious: Since I´ve heard Blood on Blood the first time, I wanted to know if Danny and Bobby really exist, or if this song is just fiction. Maybe Bon Jovi said something about this in an earlier interview? I´d really like to know, cause I love that Song!

I don't know for sure, but it may be like Tommy & Gina. They where based on people Jon knew, but he changed their names to keep their identity scret. Maybe 'Danny' and 'Bobby' are friends Jon had as a child?

no- danny and bobby really exist and danny is indeed a lawyer now! so they are no fictional persons- guess they are jon's school buddys

I don't recall if Danny and Bobby are there actual names or not. Jon did mention he told this story to Richie and Desmond and they put together this song rather quickly. But they are about real life characters.

I can't quite remember but I'm sure I read this too at BJHQ.

Danny and Bobby really do exist and those are their real names. The story of the song has been fictionalized, but the friendship was real. Bobby is actually the guy that Dorothea dated before he went off to join the Navy. Those names were not changed to protect the innocent because Jon was hoping that they would hear the song and he could track them down. Jon talked about them during a show in North Carolina in 2000. I think he said one of them wound up in Florida and had lost all his hair, but was doing well other than that. LOL

Becky has it right. I have a copy of Jon talking about this during BOB from when he was supporting DA (at least if I remember right). I'll try to listen to it again and update you tomorrow.

OK I’m forgetful... after hunting, I realized the talk was during the acoustic charity show the band did on 6/23/00.

The names are real. Based on a true story. There were four guys, Jon, Danny, Bobby & Steve. Steve didn't make the song. The best way to get out of town was to join the navy, but Jon knew that wasn't for him. Danny, Bobby, & Steve joined the navy. Bobby made the mistake of leaving a girlfriend behind & trusting Jon to take care of her. Jon tried to keep his distance because he figured Bobby would come back and stuff Jon's guitar down Jon's throat, if Jon went near her. But, hey, Bobby never came back. So Jon figured he waited long enough. He told her he had no money, no where to live, & that he couldn't keep a band together because no one wanted to play original songs when they could make $50/night playing cover songs. She fell for it, and 11 years later...Steve left the navy, got married had kids. Danny went to Florida, lost all his hair, but he is still in good spirits. And Bobby's an uptown lawyer...
