Default question about guitars

hi i just need to know one thing.
how does richie connect his talkbox.
because when he doesn't use it the distotion sound sounds exactly the same when he does.
i have a zoom gfx707 (getting a boss gt-6 hopefully) but when i enable my talkbox(danelectro freespeech) the distotion changes slightly even tho i dont use the talkbox distotion.
the distotion when enabled has a more tinny sound but if i put the talkbox after the zoom in my effect chain i cant use any delay or what ever and i can controll the volume of the talkbox but the other way round i can.

i need some help here please
can any one help by telling me richies setup aswell but the main thing i want to know is the first thing.

what does everyone else think of the freespeech talkbox?

the difference is that the dan electro is an in line talk box meaning u can run it in a line of effects str8 into ur amp and use other effects at the same time and use a lot of effects on the same amp.

whereas professional talkboxes need there own power amp so richie has an amp used just for the talk box and amps for his clean and dirty sounds.

so richie doesn't use a distotion pedal he uses his amp for his distotiona thought he uses a boss DS-1 stomp box
during bad name in the storytellers show you can see his orange box on the board.

on the one wild night tour he used a boss ds2 sometimes.

the ds2 has a nice kind of loose sounding crunch to it that u can just pick out in some of the songs if u listen carefully. it just added another flavour of overdrive along with the dsl2000 head.

alternatively alot of pro's use boss ds1's as a boost to their amps already overdrive channels.

set the gain low and the level high and put it in front of an overdriven amp and it will push it harder and give it some extra balls for solo's etc...

again what u have to realise is that these guys pedals will mostly have been modified buy guys like robert keeley or their guitar techs to make them better than stock and whereas their guitars may look like theyve rolled off a production line, they're all worth thousands and r custom jobs.

i mean richie has original PAFs in his flying V and they clock in at 8g's each/ nice if youve got the money.

Actually, the talk box's sound is amplified through a microphone. It doesn't have an amp, just a thing called horn driver, which transfers the sound though the plastic tube into Richie's mouth. From there it is picked up by a microphone. It's not a separate amp.

Ice is right. The talk-box is just amplified by a PA system via mic. The thing with the Danelectro is that it is a lower-budget effect compared to the framptone and Heilsound varieties and doesn't require a PA for it to be used on stage as it has its own mic built in. Lower budget unfortunately means lower performance and that is simply something Richie never has to worry about!

i've had both a freespeech and the framptone models (both sold) and they both fitted different situations. wheni was working out a particular arrangement or just having some fun at home, i used the freespeech but for gigging, i thought it was dreadful.. i have very little in the way of guitar stuff now. prefer just jamming on my acoustic. i'm sure i'll pick it all back up when i leave uni.
