on the one wild night tour he used a boss ds2 sometimes.
the ds2 has a nice kind of loose sounding crunch to it that u can just pick out in some of the songs if u listen carefully. it just added another flavour of overdrive along with the dsl2000 head.
alternatively alot of pro's use boss ds1's as a boost to their amps already overdrive channels.
set the gain low and the level high and put it in front of an overdriven amp and it will push it harder and give it some extra balls for solo's etc...
again what u have to realise is that these guys pedals will mostly have been modified buy guys like robert keeley or their guitar techs to make them better than stock and whereas their guitars may look like theyve rolled off a production line, they're all worth thousands and r custom jobs.
i mean richie has original PAFs in his flying V and they clock in at 8g's each/ nice if youve got the money.
