It's not a surprise seeing you in a Jon thread again. Backstage all the way baby.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If people think the name is stupid, it is their right to do so. If you don't like it, ignore the thread. Just because people don't agree with you, doesn't make them narrow minded or stupid. Maybe you are the one who needs to open your mind a bit.
I agree that everyone has the right to their own opinion, but is there really a need for all this discussion? Naming a baby is a personal matter that is left up to the parents who brought the child in the world. Give them a break and some privacy and respect. Does every aspect of their lives including their personal lives and things regarding their children have to be discussed and criticised? What does it matter what they name their children anyway? We are here for the music, not their personal lives and especially not to criticise their children in any way. Even if its regarding thier names and may be "light hearted." I don't believe saying it may be a joke is very light hearted at all. It is disrespectful to Jon and Dorothea and especially disrespectful to thier new son. Reiterating it is even worse.

I don't think they know what is being said here, or would care if they did read here!

They're not untouchable! Just because they're famous and we admire their music they don't have to be perfect or above good and bad.

Plus, this kind of jokes is what they'll be encountering in the future :P

Congrats! This is the first inteligent thing I've read here. Why is everyone so cruel? Why does it have tobe a joke? Baby is born, that's great! Romeo Jon, it's not a bad name! And I don't think that the things like that should be discussed here, the baby's name it's the parents' buisness.

I'm sure the kid will hear all through out school.

Oh and I did kid my friend Betsy about her sons name..Yngwie. (we live in the south- home of the bubbas). She was like "yeah I know, I should have known better than to let my husband pick the name". But as time went by, She as well as her friends and family got used to it. Sometimes things just take getting used to.

But I've heard some pretty bad names before, I know of one mother who picked a name out for her kid, one that she couldn't even pronouce.

So Romeo and Yngwie are not the worse names by far.

Oh and I was almost named Quanah...after my great great grandfather. But my dad had his heart set on Tonia.

No one's trying to change the baby's name. And yes, it's great he's healthy and all. Were just commenting on his name. It's not such a bad thing. And, yes, it could be worse, and it could be better. So what? Do you never say you don't like a name? Have you never laughed at someone else's name? Goodness, people keep making jokes about my last name (we have two in Spain) and even if they make me cringe inside, I don't hate people because of that!

She's also entitled to her opinion. But I'd have to agree, calling the name "gay" isn't just narrow minded or stupid...it's completely juvenile with a grade school mentality. However if you want to try and break it down to difference of opinion, so be it. One doesn't have to like it...but taking it on with the mind of a 12 year old?

I don't think the name is that bad. I mean it's a bit...different. But I see it as a tribute to Jon's career as a whole in a positive way. By using Romeo as his first name...a reference that appears more than once in the songs he has written..and the spelling of his professional first name as opposed to "John." It's a bit gutsy and the kid might grow to be a bit resentful for being named in reference to his Dad's career instead of being given one that is all his own.

Really, Romeo Jon isnt that bad a name! And if it is an April fool's joke, we'll find out soon!
I have seen worse names... my uncle is a teacher and he has two twins in his class named "Sharon" and "Not Sharon"
