I think they had a huge effect on the 80s music scene, they did a lot of firsts so I think they are legends.

Living Legends indeed.

That's odd. I've heard him say at least a dozen times that he doubts they will ever be inducted.

I don't think that they will be remembered in the same league as The Beatles, Elvis, The Rolling Stones etc but I think they will be remembered as one of the better rock bands of the 80's and 90's, one which lasted longer than many others, sold lots of albums and were very good live.

Of course we are all a bit biased on here, but still I think to even people who don't consider themselves fans I'd bet many people could sing-along to, and enjoy, more Bon Jovi songs than they may realise. I think it is that widespread appeal that makes them so keep going. There are obviously enough 'proper' fans if they have managed to sell 100,000,000+ albums, but they are good enough to appeal to a wide audience.

You guys are the idiots if you don't know he recorded Runaway in 1982. Must I provide all the details? Okay, remember this next year when he is inducted. Jon is all about HALL OF FAME in '07. This tour, the Oprah Show, everything he is doing now is gearing up to HALL OF FAME in '07. Sorry I know too much for you guys to handle. Must be like information overload.

"In 1980 Jon sang on "R2-D2 We Wish You a Merry Christmas" from Christmas in the Stars: Star Wars Christmas Album. At the studio, Bongiovi convinced Billy Squier to produce his demo tape. One song, "Runaway," received airplay on local radio stations om 1982. He formed a band to support the song with keyboardist David Bryan, guitarist Dave Sabo, bassist Alec John Such and drummer Tico Torres. The success of the "Runaway" led to a label bidding war, and the group signed to Polygram/Mercury in 1983."

Doesn't matter when Runaway was recorded, it matters when it was released, and it wasn't released until 1983. So even IF singles count as albums for eligibility purposes, which I'm fairly sure they don't, they're STILL not eligible until 2008.

And if I'm not letting the HoF tell me whether or not they're legends, I'm damn sure not letting a throwaway unauthorized bio dvd tell me.

living legends? to me yes. but then they are my favourite band so i may be a little biased. i mean westlife fans probably think they are bloody living legends...you know what i mean?
i'm not deluded enough to think that everyone else thinks they are living legends.

It really is quite laughable when these people who claim to know everything actually know ****-all.

Taken from the official Bon Jovi website in the biography section:

"They opened for ZZ TOP at Madison Square Garden before the label had released the band's self-titled debut album, BON JOVI, in FEBRUARY of 1984"

Got that? 1984, the first album.

Taken from Wikipedia in relation to the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame

"Currently, groups or individuals are qualified for induction 25 years after the release of their first record. Nominees should have demonstrable influence and significance within the history of rock and roll"

Ok, 25 years, you got that?

1984 + 25 = 2009

So exactly how can Jon be inducted in 2007? He didn't have an album in 1982, nor has he, as a solo performer, done anything worthy of being inducted (2 solo albums).

The band, however, have had 9 studio albums, a greatest hits album, live album, rarities boxset and acoustic(ish) album, have played thousands of concerts in front of millions of people worldwide...when it hits 2009 they will be eligible for induction and as long as they keep going, perhaps release another couple of albums, few more tours, they may have a good shot, though I think they may have to wait because The Red Hot Chili Peppers are up the same year, so that could be a close one.
