Ask 500 people walking down the street to pick out Richie or The Edge from a line-up (no hats allowed!  ) and I think the results would be pretty much evenly balanced cos next to nobody would recognise them. I could quite easily bump into The Edge walking along the street unawares and not have a clue who he was even though I have listened to and watched plenty of U2 performances before. |
Gav I didn't say his fame was based on his guitar prowess (have you ever seen It Might Get Loud? :-s ) and I did mention that it has a lot to do with his name but my opinion stands that A LOT more u2 concert goers, even the casuals would be more pissed if they knew the Edge wasn't going to be appearing (even if they couldn't pick him out in an identity parade) than the majority of people going to Bon Jovi shows who really just want to hear Prayer and see Jon wiggle his ass for a bit.
