Coupled that with Bruce's passing (yes finding a new producer for a record after the one that was supposed to produce passed away does create a delay) and Island buying/merging with Mercury around that time did in FACT delay the release of the record. It's my life was written after the merging, when Jon decided to hold on a bit more so the album wouldn't get lost in the shuffle with all those at the time currently successful hip-hop and pop acts they were now sharing labels with...
Jon's third album was not completed by any means of the imagination, those were 30 DEMOS. Then Jon wrote 30 more songs with the band (Richie and collaborators) for the "band" record. How the **** is this so hard to get?? You could just admit that you're making shit up and that would be it. And if you think Jon was on set of U-571 for more than 4-5 days then you clearly haven't seen the movie.....

You're not telling me anything I haven't already known however your facts are a little off. I do agree with you on the SS demos but they were completed enough to have listening party which means musicians played on them. (The demo of Rich Man on the box is a different version from the listening party. I don't know when the master was done. '99 or '04? )
Crush was NEVER supposed to be
released in '99.
Bruce and Bob Rock were initially going to work on the album together in June of '99. Bruce passed in May of '99 right at the time Jon finished filming U571. There is no way they would have had the album done & released in '99 b/c they didn't even enter the studio to start producing it yet. Bruce had some demos, 30/30 but that was it.
Jon had a bunch of demoed songs, vocals and acoustic guitar tracks that he sent to Ebbin. Ebbin picked one, added the rest of the instruments which updated Bon Jovi's sound to 2000 and That's how he got the job.
Dave cut his finger in 1998 which had absolutely no impact on the above. NONE what so ever. The only thing it did was kept him from recording on Richie's album.
So before you start getting all pissy, you should really know your facts first. As far as the release date getting moved, it happens all the time in the music business as well as the movie business. I wouldn't consider that a delay in the terms we have been describing it thus far.
Were there inconveniences? Yes, of course. Were there delays? Not Really. They had to start from scratch when Bruce passed but they didn't even get in the studio yet and they got Ebbin quickly after.
BTW, Stay on topic here. We are discussing how Dave's accident delayed Sex Sells. Again, if Crush got pushed back a month, it's completely irrelevant to how it's being discussed in this topic.
